Trustees Report – Celebration Christian Church, Scartho

We aim to honour God, serving our congregation and the larger community through church activity and giving. This is in line with the aims and principles of the church leadership and based upon the teaching of scripture in the Bible.

We participate in weekly public worship, preaching, prayer and Bible study groups in individual homes. Also we are active in gospel outreach to the greater Grimsby and Cleethorpes community.

We have an active church leadership who meet regularly to receive trustee reports and discuss the aims and needs of the church.

We currently enjoy preaching from both the leadership and members of the church as well as visiting preachers. We are currently receiving preaching in the book of Genesis as well as the book of Romans. Our home groups are actively participating in various biblical studies. We hold a monthly breakfast prayer meeting at various members’ home, as well as a monthly communion service.

We facilitate pastoral care in the community by visiting both incapacitated and/or elderly members of the church. We provide a network of care as a shared responsibility between all members of the congregation.

Through our received donations we give to a range of charitable concerns both home and abroad. A monthly food and money donation to the Grimsby Food kitchen as well as the Rock Foundation and other charitable concerns both local and abroad.

We take an active role in utilising our rented premises at Scartho Community Library by using the premises for events outside of the normal Sunday worship service. These include, but are not limited to, church community prayer meetings, baptismal services, and church feast day celebrations.

We are active in outreach to the local community; this involves sharing the gospel message and the provision of gospel materials to members of the public.

We currently have members at the church from the New Tribes Mission based at North Cotes, hosting several student members as well as family groups. We support their aims and seek to provide provision both financially, and through other means, of support.

We maintain an active and current church website, providing both information relating to the church as well as sermon resources.

We maintain a continuity of Christian service, and seek to serve the Lord by this means to His honour, praise and glory.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of

Scartho Celebration Church

I report on the accounts of Scartho Celebration Church for the year ended 31 March 2023.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) but that an independent examination is needed.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to an audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
