FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2024
The Iwstees present their annual report and financial ststements for the year ended 31 August 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in acccwdance wih the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the
financial statements and comply wrth the Chantys constitutson. the Chariti'es Act 2011 and -Ac¢ounting and
Reporting by Chanties.. Statement of RecommefKled Practice ap￿1¢able to charitFes preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Finan(ial Rep￿Ing Standard applicable in the UK Reptsblic of Ireland (FRS
102)" (effective 1 January 2019).
Objectives and actlvltles
The chanty's Fyincipal activty continues to be ttwt of Fwomots"ng the welfare of the inhalitants of v￿On3 Dock and
the neighbouring area. The chanty premises are made available to groups aTrJ the committee also organises rfs
own events with the assistance of volunteers.
Public benefft
The trustees have paid due regard to guKlan￿ kssued by the Chatlty Commission in deciding wl)at actsvrties the
Charity should undertske.
Achievements and performance
In this finarKial year the hall continued to see good levels of rcom bc#)kws with many betng repeat bookers. Total
rental ir￿rne for the year amounted to £30.869 {2023 - £31.883). Wth ￿gardS to the running costs of the hall, total
for the year amounted to £37,954 (2023 - £38.721). Thi5 was a small reduction and remains a high area of focus
and concem for the committee The costs of utIl￿.eS rose again from Ihe prior year to £19.646 in the year. This
increase was predominantly the ￿$1 of electriuty arKI %Yater. As usual. 50% of all utility (x)sts was recovered in the
form of Hull Cty Council Grants. These grants continue to make a signfficant firk7ncial impact for the chanty in Mew
of the continued unprecedented level of utilrty costs bw.ng faced.
The financial assistance r￿e[Ved from Hull Cty Council in the fomi of quartwly ublty bill clams totalled £10,040
(2023 - £6.633). The charity also fecetved Ihe annual £1.(XIO administration grant and three smaller grants. These
were for the Ne•V FrierKls Group. part￿1 redecoration and to recover costs for instsllats.on of a defibrillator h￿Sed at
the village hall to serve the communty.
As stated in the preVIc￿ year's ac£ounts. ts commiitee decided to POSty)one the Fun Day in 2024 retum again
in 2025 when rt will be the 30th Anniversary. This was lo alk)w the charity to build up cash resources and hopefully
gain some new Corporate SFA)nsors to mrtigate costs. Costs will be closety controlled to aim for a l(y4M net spend
going forward to ensure that the event can conts'nued to be held in the future.
The charity ended the year with a surplus of aFf>roximately £6.200 (2023 - def￿t £9,500). with total cash resources
increasing to £32.000 from £25,600. The finan￿S remain at adequate levels but continue to be closely monitored
by the committee. This includes maintainirKJ as much funds as possible in higher interest bearing savings accounts
to eam credit interest.
The eight volunteer ccffimittee trustees maintairEd daily operatiM of the Ifillage Hall in various ways and there
We￿ part.time employed members of sLqff.
Flnanclal revlew
tt is the policy of the charity to maintain IbJuid unrestricted fur#ts. vthich are free reserves of the Charity, at a level
sufficbent to cover the cost5 for a FericxJ of at least Ihree montts. Unrestricted fuTras were mantained in excess of
this level throughout the year.
The SOFA is showiNJ a surplus of £6.228 arml consequerrtly the balance sheet reserves have increased to £31,921
of whickn £29,703 are free ￿Selves.

Reserves pollcy
It is Ihe poliw of the Charity that unrestricted funds *thich have not been designated for a speafic use should be
maintained at a level equtvalent to between three arKJ six month's expenditure. The trustees consider that reserves
at this level will ensure that, in the everrt of a signtficant drop in funding. they will be able lo continue the Charity's
current activrties while consideratson is given to ￿￿yS in vttmch addibonal funds may be raised. This level of reserves
has been maintained througtKXrt ts year.

1.1 AGcounting convéntion
The financial statements have been Fwared in accordan￿ with the Chanty's corththon, the Chariiies Act
2011. FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicabSe in the UK and Republic of IrelarKI' (-FRS 1027
and the CharitEs SORP "Ac¢ounbng and ReportirKJ by Charities" Ststement of Recommended Praclice
ap￿[cable to charities prepafing iheir accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" (effeclNe 1 January 2019). The Charity is a Public
Benefit Entty as defined by FRS 102.
The Charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for chanties Tr)t to prepare a Statement ol
Cash Flows.
The financial statements are prepared in sterfing, ￿ttich is the functior￿1 currency of the Charity. Monetary
amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under tr* historical cost eonventson. The pnrKipal accounting
poliaes adopted a￿ set OLrt below.
1.2 GoSng concern
At the lime of approvsng the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectatK)n the Charity
has adequate resources to conltnue in operational e￿$ten0 for the foreseeable future. Thus the tn£tees
continue to adopt the going concem basis of accwntsng in preparing the financial siatements.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretK>n of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objects'ves.
Restricted funds are subject io Spetr￿ conditions by d￿or$ or gTant¢xs as to may be tssed. The
purposes aThJ uses of ttbe restricted funds a￿ set Ixrt in the notes to the financial statemerrts.
Endowment furKls a￿ subject to specific C(XKIits(￿ by donors that the caprtal musl be maintair*d by the
Chanty.
1.4 Income
Income is recognised vknen the Charity is legalty entitled to it after any perfomance conditions h￿e been
met. the amounts can be measured reliabty, and it is probable Ihat irKome will be re*jved.
Cash donations are recognised ￿ receipt. Other d(x)atsons a￿ fecognised On￿ the Charity has been nob.fied
of the donation. unless performance coThJtbons require deferral of the amount. Income tsx recoverable in
relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant ￿ recognised at the time of the donalictyn.
Legacies are recognised on (￿lp1 ￿ otherwise rf the Charity has been rthfied of an impendirwJ distribution,
