Policies and obSectlves
The Trust's principal objective is lo provide or assist in the provision of addrtional services facilities for the
education of pupils and former pupils of Holmer Green Senior School, Buckingh8mshire, and ID Otherwse further
their edu¢alion.
In setting objectives and planning for 8clivilies. the Trustee5 have given due consideration lo general guidance
PLJblished by the Charity Comrnission relating lo public benefit, including the guidance 'Public benefit.. running a
charity IPB21'.
b. Strategiès for achieving oblectlves
The aims of the charity are to raise funds and receive contributions in order to provide services and fa¢ilities to
the students ol Holmer Green Senior Schtsol with the aim of advancement of edLJcation.

b. Revlew of a¢tlvltle$
This has been a very busy year for Holmer Green Senior School with a full programme of Trips and Activities for
students. We are delighted that our Duke of Edinburgh programmes for continue lo go from strength to strength
with gooLI participation in Bronze, Silver and Gold. We also run the Venture programme loi Year 7 which helps
prepare students for the awards and provides an excellent bonding experience for the new year group on arrival
al th& school.
The dedication of our staff has ctsntrlbuled lo this varied programme ol extra-curricular events.
¢. Student laptop schem&
Our Sludenl Laptop Scheme is a Lease purchase laptop scheme lor parentslcarers and is invaluable in
supporting learning in classrooms and homework. We have achieved Microsoft Showcase slalus again this year
and use of the laptops has been vital lor this.

The Charity does not hold any investments.

Going concern
After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a ieason8ble expectation that the Charity has adequate
resources lo continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue to adopt
the going Goncem basis in preparing the financial stslemenls. Further details regarding the adoption of the going
concern basis can be found in the accounts'ng policies.

flexibility through the year.

Funding is largely received frorn the students. parents or carers bul is also received through various fundraising
events.

a. Constllution
Holmer Green Senior School Trust is a registered charity, number 1051142. and is consliluled under a Trust
deed.
b. Methods of appointment or election of Trustees
The management of the charity is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected and ¢￿0pled under the
terms of the Tru51 deed.
The five Iruslees of the School Fund are those in the posts of Headleacher. Chair of Governors, Chair of the
Governors. Finance Committee, Director of Finance and Operations, Director of HR and Compliance.
c. Organisatlonal structure and declslon-maklng pollcles
Trustees receive updates on the school fund al finance subcommillees which are held five limes a year.
Decisions are made Ihrough the lull agreement of the subcoTllmillee and then recommended to the full
governing body. Three Iruslees are members of the finance subcommittee and one is the chair of the full
governing body. The minutes of the subcommittee meelin9s are presented Its lull governors lor acceptance.
Accounts are signed al subcommittoe meetings.

The Trustees have assessed the major risks lo which the charity is exposed. in particular those related lo the
operations and finances of the charity. and are satisfied th81 systems and procedures are in place lo miligale
exposure lo the major risks.
The school maintains full insurances for public liability, employers, liability and premises and contents. When
planning for use of funds thè trustee5 maintain a minimum of £10,000 retention ftjnd to ensure sufficient
reserves are maintained for the management of school vi511s.
Plans for future periods
The schr)ol budget for the ye8r 2025128 has been sel by the governors wlhout ulili5ing any school funds. These
monies will continue lo support the further development and maintenance of the site. Our curienl future plan5
include CIF bids lor significant up grades lo the healing system.

The Charity does not hold any funds as a custodian.

I report lo the charity Trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Charty for the year ended 31 August
2025.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the TrLJStees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accorL%ance with the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011 I'lhe 2011 Act'l.
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carriod out under so¢lion 145 of the 2011 Act and
in carrying out my examination I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under
section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.

Since the Charity's gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner musl be a member of a body listed in
section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that l am qualified lo undertake the examination because l am a member
of ICAEW, which is on& of the listed bodies.
Your attention Is drawn lo the fact that the Charity has prepared the accounts in accordance with Accounting and
Reporting by Charities.. Slalemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Finanaal Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 in
preference lo the Accounting and Reporting by Charities." Slalemenl of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April
2005 which is referred lo in the extant regulations bul has been withdrawn.

2.1 Basls of preparatlon of flnanclal statements
The financial slalements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021
Ac¢ounling and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their accoun15 In accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191, th& Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic ol Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Act 2011.
The financial slalements havg been prepared lo gtve a 'lrue and fairf view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo the exlenl required ID provide a 'lrue
and fair. view. This departure has Involved following the Chaiilies SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Slalement of Recommended
Practice effective from 1 April 2005 which has since been withdrawn.
Holmer Green Senior School Trust meets the definition of a PLJblic benefit enlily under FRS 102.
Assets and 1Sabililies are initially recognised al historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise
slated in the relevant accounting policy.
2.2 Income
All Income is recognised once the Charity has enlillemenl lo the incomg, il is probable that the
income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.
Income tax rgcov¢rable in relation lo investment income is recognised at the lime the investment
income is receivable.
2.3 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once Ihero is a legal or constructive obligation lo transfer economic benefit
lo a third party, il is pr(>bable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and
the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is Classified by activity. The costs
of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared c05t5, including support costs
involved in undertaking each activily. Direct costs attributable lo a single activity are allocated directly
lo that activity. Shared costs which contribute lo more than one activity and support costs which are
not allribulable lo a single activity are apportioned between Ihtsse activities on a basis consislenl with
the use of resources. Central staff c051s are allocated on the basis of lime spent, and depreciation
charges allocated on the portion of the asset's use.
Expenditure on raising funds includes all expenditure incurred by the Charity to raise funds for ils
charitable purposes and includes costs of all fundraising activities events and non-charitsble trading.
All expenditure is inclusive of irreGoverable VAT.

2.4 Interest receivable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured
reliably by the Charity.. this is norrnally upon nolificalion of the interest paid or payable by the

Prepayments are valued al the amount prepaid nel of any trade discounts due.
2.6 Cash at bank and Sn hand
Cash al bank and in hand indudes ¢8sh and short-lerm highly liquid investments with a short maturity
of three months or less from the dale of acquisition or opening of the deposit Dr similar account.
2.7 Llabllltles and provlslons
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation al the Balance Sheet date as a result of a past
event. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will be iequired in seitlemenl, and the amount
of the setdement ean be estimated reliably.
Liabilities are recognised al the amoLJnt Ihal the Charity anticipates il wll pay to settle the debt or the
amount il has received as advanced payments lor the goods or services il Fnusl provide.
Provisions are measured al the besl estimate of the amount5 required lo sellle the obligation. Where
the effect of the time value of money is material, the provision is based on the present value ol those
amounts, discounted al the pre-tax discount rate that reflect5 thè risks specific lo the liability. The
unwinding of the discount is recognised in the Slalèmonl of Financial Activities as a finance cost.
2.8 Finan¢lal Instrument5
The Charity only has financi818ssets and financial liabililies ol a kind that qualify as basic financial
inslrumenls. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised al transaction value and subsequently
measured at their settlement value with th& exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured at amortised ¢osl using the effective interest method.
2.9 Fund a¢¢ounting
General funds are unre51ricted funds which are available for use at the discretion ol the Trustees in
furtherance ol the general objective5 01 the Charity and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
Investment income, gains and losses are allocated lo the appropriate fund.
