The BCA learr6 have worked hard lo recover and re-set our wcgrammes after the I￿kdOWn Ferigds.
Our education and engagement programmes *re restored as were our essential links with schools
and the community We can once again welcome vi5rtors, yourrfj and ohjer, and lake pleasure in seeing
their enlhusk4sm al our events. Our approach has helFed develop meaniThJful connections wlh a wider
a(*ience Forticularly through our actNe involvement in addressing injustice faced by our sedions of our

Learning, Collections and Workforce Development
Beyond our Prcgramme of exhibrtions, BCA'S main offers are..

our workforce development programme that focuses on trans1￿MIng the arts and heritage sector.
Each of these areas ofwork has grown in ac￿5 and impact over the last year. Our learniro work has
increased in capacrty thanks lo the recrurtmenl of a Learniro Assistant who L8 reswnsible for managing
the adminislralion of tKM)king5 and evaluatKsrts. This has freed up capacty for strategic development of
an expanded learning offer.
Similarly. the Co1￿CtIOnS Team has benefited from ftjnding lo start a catalcgtje development project
focusing on Anita McKenzie's archNe. as well as having received fundiro lo improve the d￿j111saI10n of
our #lysical collections. We have also completed the UFgfade ol online calalcguiro system.
In terms ol workforce development, BCA vras a￿e lo run a successful Pathways conference when we
launched the Race in Heritage Avrard Pilot. We ￿re delyhted to see six participants ol BCA'S Black ¢)n
Board course secured posf(ions on boards within UK cultural and arts organisalions.
Lojking l￿Ward, our learning offer must become more strategically commercial, wth a review of
charges needed lo drive income especially from COfForates and indNtrduals. We can a&0 b￿1n to seek
fut￿lIV￿ support from corwrale partnerships.
In terms ol the learnirg conlenl. there are plans to develop eommeraal video content and expand the

that BCA ￿￿Uld enter the next financial year vrth a lully-flgJged ￿an of how to raise Income from
individuals. tr￿ts and fourKlations, as well as corForales, wrth clear benefits and comtElitively pnc&J
packages ol supwt.
BCA has secured a number of corpx)rale partnershiF6 and grants lor programmatic work and has
received assurances from major ftjnders including National Herrtage Lottery Fund, Paul Hamlyn
Foundation aThY Woltson that planned ap￿1¢allor￿ for six fvJure sums, are likely lo be successful.
In terms of the management of BCA'S finances, the reuurtment of a rEw Treasurer intrThYuced welcome
improvements lo the approach to managerrent accounting, and budgetirMJ training was offered to the
senior management team.
