Report from Trustees: financial year ending March 2025
Our report has not really changed since 2024. The Centre continues to run with the help of our committed Volunteer Committee. Our regular groups continue to enjoy the benefits of the Centre and cover the ages 0 – 90’s. All our groups have the required insurance and policies in place to safeguard their members. A copy of all groups insurance policies is held by the Volunteer Committee. Enhanced DBSs’ are in place where necessary.
We are still struggling to increase our commercial hirers. Our regular User Groups have not returned to their fund-raising events, and this year we have not held any major fund raising, due to lack of support. Our Drama Group, who have significantly helped increase our finances, their Youth Group has also been very successful. Both groups have increased the number of productions this year, which is great news for the Centre. Our Guiding groups have continued to increase their numbers which again is good news.
We are still in the process of negotiating a new lease for the Centre. Our lease expired in early 2023, and to date it is still ongoing. However, we are now in discussion with DBC for a new heating system for the Centre, together with all the single glass apexes being renewed with glass that will help keep the heat in. We are quietly confident that this will be agreed and work commence either end of 2025 or early 2026. Hopefully once complete it will help us increase our commercial hirers, as we will be able to confidently advertise a warm comfortable hall.
