CHAIR’S REPORT 7th October 2025

The 24/25 Academic year has been another yet of challenges and successes.

Over the course of the year we have said ‘Goodbye’ to a number of our staff and Committee Members. Our previous Manager Kylie left us after a period of Maternity leave and our Room Leader Devenne also left us just before Easter. We wish them both well in their future endeavours.

We also saw a number of changes to the Committee leadership structure with Laura and Emma both seeping down from their respective periods as Chair. The role is not always an easy one and we are ever grateful for the time, skill and dedication they both put into their role. We are also saying goodbye to Tom, Abigail and Karen; the preschool would be unable to run without the commitment and guidance of our Committee members and so we want to say a huge thank you to you all.

Going forwards into the new year and we hope to be able to act on the recommendations that we made in the early Summer as part of the 25/26 Forward Plan. This includes delivering on our commitment to a new, fit for purpose legal structure that lessens the personal responsibility of the Committee and allows us to bring in more expert guidance as well as freeing up more time to help our operations team with some of the fun stuff, like fundraising, events and parties!

Over the year we have worked to implement a number of staff welfare improvements, including implementing a new Employee Assistance Programme, opening up the School staff room to the staff and, finally, making the office into, well, an office! This work will continue and we are currently looking at applying for funding for further improvement including the installation of a nursery cam system.

We will be continuing to raise our profile within the Community; we will continue our Forest School expeditions as well as hopefully expanding this outdoor provision to include a dedicated Preschool Allotment Plot! Visits across the Village will continue with Vicar Cat welcoming the children for Harvest, Easter and Christmas events throughout the year. We want to

note our thanks to all those across the Community who continue to support the staff and children.

I am positive that with our team of utterly committed staff, our new committee and with the Community alongside us, we will achieve the goals set out in the Forward Plan and have another successful and impactful year.

I would like to close by again expressing my gratitude to the Committee, Staff, our supporters and most of all the Children of Little Willows for making the setting the positive and joyous place it continues to be, and somewhere I am always happy to volunteer my time to.
