Little Willows Preschool Committee Annual General Meeting 26th Seotember 2022 - 7.30
After the upheaval of 2020 and 2021, we were all hoping for a smoother 2021/22! Whilst Covid-19 has largely become part of our everyday operations and something we are much better equipped to deal with, this past academic year has still been something of a challenge!
And whilst Sarah’s resignation and subsequent departure was difficult for everyone and she is still very much missed, it also gave us a brilliant opportunity to review how we do things at the Pre-School, change up the staffing structure and prepare ourselves for the ever-looming Ofsted inspection.
We have made a number of changes to setting, both small (such as the new uniforms) and some very substantial such as the new flooring and layout. Our new staffing structure shows our commitment to developing our staff, with Kylie moving up to the role of Manager and Sophie in the role of room leader. Mary has joined us as preschool administrator, freeing up all the staff to carry our training, planning and preparation during their working time.
We have been fortunate enough to receive some significant financial support from the Community, including the Parish Council paying for the new flooring, and a donation from Lovells homes to improve the play area. We are still waiting to hear if we have received any grant funding from the Town Farm Trust to go towards refreshing furniture and resources and we will be resubmitting applications for CIL funding to the Parish Council to help us fix the fenced area and removed the Astro Hill.
We are sad to say goodbye to some of our long-standing Committee members who have been with us for many years. They have supported the preschool through some of the most challenging times possible with Covid, and so we say a huge thank you to them for their hard work and dedication over the years.
Going forward into the new academic year, we are hoping for some smoother waters!

We expect an Ofsted inspection any time soon, and team have been preparing for this. Our last inspection picked us up on staff support and development, and so we have embedded a new program of staff supervisions and objective setting.
We also expect to need to carry out further recruitment into the new year to manage the rise in children.Recruitment is an ongoing challenge, and we will look to be more targeted with our efforts next time round to ensure we can be more effective.
As the Chair of the Committee, I would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff at Little Willows and the rest of the Committee, for their continued hard work and dedication to the Children and Families we serve.
