Hope Church Charity no. 1050518 Chairman’s report for year 2022
MINISTRIES
The church only functions and is able to serve our community because of the brilliant volunteers of Hope Church, who every week give of their time and talent to serve. We are so thankful for each and everyone of you.
Food Bank. I am thankful for this compassion ministry and the help it provides to those who are struggling. Sadly numbers continue to increase year on year for various reasons but we are here to help and I know those that come to receive food parcels are very grateful.
Kids Club and Hope Kids. These 2 ministries provide an environment and setting for all the children to learn and grow in their understanding of God and the bible. Kids Cub is doing well with attendance and volunteers and the subjects they cover are fun and encouraging to the kids. They also play lots of games which they love and also do craft relevant to the talk which they can take home and show to their parents. Hope Kids is a great ministry for the children who attend our Sunday service and those who lead it do a great job. However, we are really struggling to find volunteers to help with this and appreciate your prayers and perhaps your willingness to support this ministry in the future so it can be sustained.
Parent and Toddlers. Sadly this ministry hasn’t started back up yet but I have been in conversation with our local primary school about a joint adventure to restart it in 2023. Watch this space.
Life Groups. We all know how important small groups are to the life of the church. We called ours life groups because we want to do life together and also tackle life issues that we all face. The numbers are low on a Tuesday because some are unable to attend due to the fact they are working but I would like to see them increase as this ministry is vital to our spiritual development and growth.
MISSION
We are church that believes we exist for our non members and to reach our community and the world with the good news of Jesus. We have a separate account dedicated to missions and through that we support various outreaches and ministries locally and abroad.
We have our main mission week every year in July with the support of New Hope, Atlanta and Holland Road Church, Brighton. This year Gateway Church, Aberaman hosted the main event which went well with good attendance. We also done a lot of practical work at our Cwmaman Primary school with the C.A.T team and I know the headmaster and teachers were amazed at what was achieved and the hard work that went in over 3 days. It was also a great testimony to the parents of our love for Cwmaman and the surrounding area. We are very thankful for this partnership and it helps us to reach out in a bigger and more adventurous way.
FINANCE
I am thankful to all who attend hope church and give financially to sustain the running costs and overheads of the church and also the generosity that enables me to be full time. The tithes and offerings have increased this year which is great news and my prayer is that it will continue in this trend as we move forward into the future.
CHURCH HEALTH
It is sometimes difficult to measure the health of a church because in some ways we are doing well for example, when it comes to the commitment from our department leaders and volunteers I couldn’t ask for more. Also the churches willingness to adapt to change and embrace the Pastor’s vision for the church without resistance is remarkable. However, there are areas we need to grow stronger, for instance Sunday attendance is still quite low as is our life groups ministry. Also we need to see younger people come through and new birth. Which will help with the need of volunteers and secure the future of Hope Church. Also I would like to see our finances increase and our tithes and offerings growing more healthy to sustain all that happens in the life of Hope Church and the maintenance that is required. Overall I believe we are a healthy church but as with everything there is always room for improvement and there are areas that really need to be developed impacted to a greater degree. God continues to be our source and sustainer and by faith, hard work and commitment we will see our church go from strength to strength.
VISION
Vision has been defined as ‘A preferred picture of the future.’ My preferred picture for our amazing church is that it would be a place that continues to have a genuine love and compassion for people, a place
where God is worshipped and served because of a passionate desire rather than a sense of duty and finally that we would be a church that is the hub of our community that no one can ignore and where lives are greatly impacted and all the glory goes to God because He is at work amongst us. It’s his church and He will build it through his faithful people and the power of the gospel.
GENRAL COMMENTS
Hope Church continues to love God and people through our demonstration of serving and caring for one another and our community. There is always room for improvement and areas that need to be strengthened and by God’s grace these areas will improve overtime. Let’s continue to serve with passion and commitment with one heart and mind. Let us be a people of faith because we know this pleases God and makes the impossible possible.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for.
