valuable facility for Wokingham u32 to network with neighbouring u3as and
also enabl¢$ joiftt activilies to be undertaken with these neighbouring u3as.

Wokingham u3a is governed under it5 consti￿tion, last amended in 2021.
In addition to committee members who are elKted annually at the Annual
General Meeting, the Commlttee may COthOPt add¢tional commlttèe members
and appoint committee members With 5pec5al expertise dlsring the ￿ar.
Committee members may Serve for up to nine yoars.
The Chair may serve for a maximum ot three years.

Thanks are due from the committee and membership to comm¥ttee
members Pauline Williams wha stood down as Sècretary in November 2022
after two yeaffs s•rvice, Neil Goodhand who retired as webmaster at the
2022 AGM after seveq years. serylce and David Spinks who stood down as
New Members Secretsry.
Two new Irustees ￿*re e￿cted at the 2022 AGM, Mikè Luff and Jim
Callaghan. to serve as Speakers Secr8tary and Vleb Coordinator
respectively.
Cluring the year. the trustees were pleased to Co-opt Juliet Hanfling and
Juligt Hurwttt as Vice Chair and Assistant Trèasurer r•spedively and to
welcome them to Wokingham u3a Committee.

Following a small fall in Mernbershsp numbers during thè Covid years,
Membership recovered to 2.250 at Mafch 2022. The trustees are delighted
that membership at 31 December 2022 now stands at an encouiaging
2,325.
Activity groups number close to 200. Activitsès covered by groups include
! education. arts & culturp. research, sPOrtJFÈcreatk>n, enviTonmentsl study
and support for stngle rnembers. The trustees would like to thank our
excellent group convenors for therr contribution to thè su¢eèss of our u38.
i Representatives attended Third Age Trust and Thames Valley Network

Membership subsuiptions were maintained at £8pp for 2022 and will be
held at the same amourlt lor the Coming year 2023. We are proud to say
that this is exactly the same as our subSCTiption was in July 19921
Payment of subscription by bank transfer ¢ontinuEs to be offered and was
tsken ijp by 70% of members.
We are fortunate to have the invaluable sèNle•s of a group of members
who form a know￿dgeable and ettedtve IT partèl. provide a Glosed WL¢3a
Facebook group and provtde many mèmbors with advice and remote
a551Stance in the use ot IT & Zoom land related) facilities
Monthly speaker meetings continued aTrd have returned successfully to
the regular monthly fa¢e to face me•tings at St Patsls Roorns.
Events had ljeen curtailèd during the pandomic. Our Èvènts team has
commenced a programme of artivltles for our members, which is much
appreciated.
Tho Chaflty's membership afKI flnancial information was held from 2017 to i
Ihe end of 2021 on the Beacon computeT System, managed by the Third
Age TrusL W￿l￿ghaM u3a tnE5tee$, having reviewed aVaIl￿ble Options,
ecided to move to the Simple Membership system. This 15 a dedicated
u3a management system. providlng already the et)hanced fèatures which
were to have been included in the cancelled Beacon upgrade prtsjoct,
notably financial accovnts. including groups finance5 to Charity
Commission Standards and automated renewal subscription pwocesslng.
Future Plans
The new computer system has proved to meet our requiremtnts and
expectations. Work is currently In progress to provid8 onlinè new mèmber
appl¢cation facilrty and lo intègrate Wu3a website within the system,
providing grèatsr efficlency and Ilexhbiliiy. with an assDciated c05t saving.
As noted above. Wu3a held a very successful o￿n Day on Oclober 2022.
l This was attended by over 600 people. including e5 members who joined
on the day and a large number Of existing members. Thanks are due to all
who contribijted to this excellent everlt, includsng many of our group
conversors. tt Is hoped to repeat this event In comin9 years.
