Kirkby Malzeard Preschool Annual General Meeting 2024/2025 – Chairs report

This year has been another positive and productive one for preschool, as a charity run committee led setting, we rely heavily on the dedication of both our staff and our volunteer committee members, and I would like to begin by extending my sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed their time, energy and commitment over the past year.

At the heart of everything we do are the children and families we serve. It has been wonderful to see the children grow with confidence, independence and curiosity throughout the year. The nurturing and stimulating environment created by our staff ensures that every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

We have continued to maintain strong partnerships with parents and carers, recognising that collaboration between home and preschool is key to each child’s development.

Our staff continue to demonstrate professionalism, creativity and dedication in delivering high quality early years education in line with the early year’s foundation stage framework. Their commitment to ongoing training and development ensures that our preschool remains current, inclusive and responsive to the needs of our children.

On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank, Tracy, Amy, Danita and Jenny for their hard work and leadership through the year. The team have continued to undertake training and professional development to ensure best practice is maintained and that we meet all safeguarding, welfare and educational requirements set by Ofsted.

As a registered charity the smooth running of the preschool depends on a committed volunteer committee. This year the committee have ensured financial stability and sustainability and maintain compliance with Ofsted/early years alliance and the charity commissions regulatory requirements, I would like to thank each committee member for their support, volunteering in these roles requires time and responsibility and your contributions are greatly appreciated.

We have worked hard to manage our finances responsibly in the face of rising operational costs including utilities, staff wages and resources Fundraising events and community support have played an important role on enhanced resources and experience for the children; we are grateful to all families and local supporters who have contributed to fundraising activities and donations throughout the year.

As we move into the coming year our priorities include:

Continuing to strengthen financial sustainability

Supporting staff development

Enhancing our learning environment and outdoor provision

Recruiting and supporting new committee members.

We remain committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

Finally I would like to thank our families for their ongoing trust and support, our staff for their unwavering dedication, and my fellow committee members for their teamwork and commitment, together we ensure that Kirkby Malzeard Preschool continues to be a valued part of our community.
