We are very grateful thai n￿re of our regular supporters have also become Friends: their donations make a significant
contribution to revenue. Our informal audience surveys indica(e that we continue to attract new audiences. but cannot
count this without extensive pre-concert publlcity.
We were delighted to welcome two new tn￿te¢s. John Newberry. is our new Tre&surer following the resignaiion of
Katherine Cavanagh after 8 years of diligenl service. We also welcome Richard F]etcher. the Orchestra's leader. which
strengthens the links beiween the rewtoire commiliee, the players and the Trustees. We are particularly grateful 10 Val
Blackburn and her ieam of helpers for undetuking front of house of house roles and help with inlerval refreshments, as
well as a number of supporters who have provided accommodation for of the players.
We are enorniously grateful once again for the coniinued suppon of our main sponsors. Trevor and Elizabeth Ingham
whose unwavering support over many years h&8 bridged the gap between our concert revenue and our cosis.
In summary. the oT¢hestra's reputation and popularity continues to grow. The trustees are actively engaged in seeking
new sources of funding 10 secure its long lerm suslainability. The orchesird continues as an important cultural addilion
to Ripon and the region and one that we all enjoy being part of.
Financial revieTrv
The charity made a net deficit from activities in the year of £1.318 (2024 £19), decreasing r¢serves 10 £48,.300 at 31
March 2025.
For the r￿St time. these figures include the receipt of Orchestrd Tax Relief of £19.372 towards production costs incurred
in the years ending March 2019. 2020, 2023 and 2024. but excludes reltef for 2024-25, recoverable only when the
accounts have been finalised. Caution needs 10 be when comparing the financial perfomwice with the previous
year. The current 2024-25 figures are based on 5 concerts (compared 10 4 concerts in 2023-24) as our Spring concert in
2025 took place aE end March, rather than in April (which would be in the nexi financial year- 2025-26).
Resen'es
The Trusiees have reviewed the charity's requiretnents for reserves in light of the main risks to the organisation.
The reserves are needed io meet the working capital requirements of the charity on an aT￿U31 basis and the trustees are
mindful of the need io keep the unrestricted T¢serves at a level which will D￿t these requirell￿nts.
Currenily. reserves are at a level to ensure concerts can continue for one year if sponsorship of concerts is no longer
forthcoming.
