OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
To enhance the development and education of children under slalutory school age by encouraging parents to
understand and provide for the needs of their children through community groups.
Provide day care for children from the age of two to school age within Ashton va￿ community. Operates in
accordance with Ofsled and other regulatory offices and Provides a curriculum based or) early years
foundation stage.

Staff & Apprentices
Ashton Vale Pre-school operates within Ashton Vale Church. Having restructured in 2022, completion in 2023.,
the Pre-school uses 4 'in5ide zones lincluding the canopy painting areal, for the children, wlh a great outdoor
Spa￿ and a quiet staff room. The Pre-school can offer space for up to 54 children a day, across two
academic year groups. Each room provides a range of eXperien￿S and opportunities for the children to
participate in,
The Pre-SchcM)I started the year with 12 praclilloners working with the children day-to-day. Hayley remains as
Head of Setting, Chloe and Summer step into the Deputy Manager role, with support Irom Lisa and Sally as
senior leads. The staff team work exceptionally hard and all of the children make excellent progress.
As always, a bwJ Ihank you to our parents, and the practitioners for helping Ashton Vale Pre-school, become
who we are.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTivrriES
Events and outlngs for the year
October
Photographer - Our professional photographers from Jefferson studios Msiled us again and they donated
£77.00 from the sales of the photographs purchased by parents.
The PMC Also organised a fundraiser al the local community centre inviting all pre-school children and their
fafflilies where there were crafts, cake and a scavenger hunt amongst olher things.
November
Children in Need Practitioners organised fun events during the week alongside the more serious issues of
Ihe meaning of Children in Need. Our theme this year was spots and playing lols of Pudsey related games
even holding a talent show, and we raised a total of £51.00.
December
Christmas Productions - This year we performed for the parents. Playgroup were able to perform a lovely
Christmas concert in the Church and Nursery perfomied one moming for their parents, All productions were
enjoyed by tt)e parents and the children loved showing off their singing and ￿ting skills dTessed in their new
nativity costumes.
Christmas Party - We were able to provide an in-house Christmas lunch and a 'big Christmas party, for our
Nursery children, we cooked a Christmas dirsner and provided entertainment in the Pre-school. We were
fortunate to have a visil from Father Christmas and all children were presented with a Christmas wrapped
picluie book.
February
The PMC organised another family fundraiser at the local community ￿ntre, Ihis lime Valentine's themed.
March
World Book Day - As always, the children enjoyed lols of aolivilies focused on their favourile books and
especially the mix up sessions where nursery and playgroup came together lo carry out the aclivilies.
The children enjoyed finding out about Comic Relief throughout this month with lols of red nose day activities
and a mix up session where all children were invited lo allend and encouraged lo 'dress funny for monel. As
a pre-school we raised and donated £8.00 lo Comic Relief.
Annual Fundraiser:
It worked so well last couple of years we decided lo dD Il all over again. All the children were invited to lake
part in our sponsored 30 challenges. The challenges proved very popular, 10 sel by the Pre-school, 10 sel by
the key person and 5 to do at home with the family along with 5 set by the PMC. This year we raised a
massive £2053.111
We also celebrated Holi week which the PMC kindly donated £68.75 towards so the children could make their
own colourful T-shirts lo keep.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
July
The PMC organised another lovely Family Fun Day at the local playing fields on the last day of the term with
the support of the staff. Everyone brought a picnic and there were lols of ftjn activities on offer lor the children
such as sports games, parachLtle, gliller tattoos, ice-cream and story sacks. There was a cake sale, a couple
of mascots for entertainment and a raffle.
We We￿ able to lake our nursery children on a fantastic day trip to Bristol Zoo Project again this year. It was a
lovely day out. The children enjoyed seeing bears and giraffes and finding out about different habitats around
the world, they had a picnic lunch.
Parents were invitecl to our leaverfs ceremony which we decided to hold outdoors again, and we were lucky
with the weather just holding off long enough. The children performed songs before re￿iving their final
learning journeys, and the much-loved Beat Baby, as well as a 'hug' from their key person, The playgroup
children received Iheir learning journeys in their new book bags and a visit from ZooLab as well as a hug. The
year was completed with a farewell party, wlh the childien enjoying, pizza and pasta, jelly and I￿ cream and
lots of fun.
Holiday Clubs throughout the year have continued to be popular. We ran the clubs in October 2023, December
2023, Febwary 2024, Easler 2024, May 2024, and August 2024.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Fundraising activities
A total of £3011.25 was raised for the Pre-school this year and £9381.46 stent, bringing the total in the
account at £3146.29. A large chunk of the fundraising post was pul towards the new playground flooring that
was installed at the end of July. The PMC agreed 75¥0 of the fundraising post al the end of the year would go
to support this which amounted to £9027.88.
The PMC raised money by hosting 3 social events for the children and their families to enjoy time together al
the local community ￿ntre this year, along with the family fun day in July.
November 2024 - Autumn Fundraiser raised £138.18.
February 2025 Valentine's Fundraiser raised £117.72.
May 2025- PMC held a Spring Family Picnic event and raised £21.11.
July 2025- The annual PMC Family Fun Day raised £274.30.
New equlpment

Accessory items for outdoor space lo promote risky and physical play.

the childien's learning.
Ofsted Inspection . 30.06,2023
The Pre-school received a 'Good' OLttcome when they were inspected by Ofsled in September 2023 and
wonderful comments regarding leadership, expectations, praclilioners, and the children, well done to all
concerned. We were OVe￿helmed with the wonderful leslimonials from our parents.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Quallty Assurance
The Bristol Slandaid Quality Assurancelreflection plans have tEen put into place during the year and all
praclilioners were involved in assessing and monitoring the largels set as well as going forward with the new
Outdoor pathway for September 2025, which will include the benefits lo the children of the outdoor space of
the Pre.School. We will also look al the 'bilesize' Bristol Standard priority lo focus on one area in greater detail.
Partnership Working
The Pre-school have continued their ex￿lIent partnership with the community. and especially local schools,
with the Re￿PIlO￿ teacher visits going very well.
Transitions lo Primary Schools were wonderful, most Primary School Re￿ption teachers took up Ihe offer of
visiting al Pre-SchDoI and we continued lo use the school's websites lo deliver informalion and share the
child's jOUTney lo reception. Where we could, practitioners supported children in their new schools and
provided enhanced Iransilions for those children with SEN. We did yet again wn a very successful transition
program for our playgioup children allending our nursery class in Septemkr 2025. We ran 4 morning
sessions again so that the children had a great lime meeting their new groups and key person.
As previously mentioned, the Church members and the Pre-school have been working logetheT lo look al the
future of both organisalions in using the Church buildings. The changes made to the Pre-school have already
had a positive effect on the children and staff and the Church membeTS are still enjoying having sole use of
their spa￿.
The Pre-school led a project lo install a community defibrillator- having researched and made initial links, bolh
Ihe Community Centre and Church were on board for a joint venture. The Pre-school arranged a second
Iraining day for the local members of Ashton Vale lo attend to leam how lo use the defibrillator.
The Pre-school worked in partnership with a parent to build a sustainable drainage system which we secured
a small grant lo help wlh, this has been greauy received by all parents and children, and we even had a food
lasting of our first produce.

Note from the PMC - Overall it has been another successful year wilhin all aTeas of Pre-school and il is
always so lovely lo hear about all the different changes, modifications and additions which continuously
improve the setting and create such a wonderful place for the children to explore, play, smile and thrive as
they grow and develop. The parent committee always feel totally included within all decisions and feel valued
to share their thoughts and suggestions. Overall, the PMC can tell the Pre-school is in a positive place with a
fanlaslK senKir leadership team, praclilioner team, trustworthy relations with parenlslcarers and of course the
children.
We have enjoyed some kively community events again this year and the highlights for the year include
working with the local community centre to hold events lo create social environments for all children and their
families, these events have also supported fundraising for the Pr&School. We have held social events in the
Autumn, for Valentines and the Spring. These events include a craft and movement ethos, with opportunities
for families to meet and socialise. Donations towards the Pre-school are also given at these events, especially
lor the bake sale. Olher highlights include a fantastic trip lo Bristol Zoo Project Iwildlife pla￿), for the nursery
class and the fundraising lo go lowaids coach transport for all children and stsff. Within the setting lots of
different religious celebrations have been explored and activities for Children in Need, W0￿d Book Day, Comic
Relief and the annual sponsorship challenge week conclude all of the fun and play the children and their
families are involved within.
Our summer event On￿ again was a super way to finish the Pre-school year and the weather was perfect for
all our families, friends and praclilioners lo join in the fun at the local playing fields. It was lovely lo see all the
children enjoying the Sports aclivilies, joining in with songs and stories, showing off their glitter laltoos and
dancing with the mascots. The smiles continued with the arrival of the ice cream van and the raffle was a big
hil. The raffle prizes and lucky dip were a great team effort from the PMC and this shows in the donations
received and the funds raised for the pre-school. We could not hold Ihe summer family fun day without the
help of Rusty, who opened his part of the Parson Street foolball team bar which allows us lo have a¢￿$S to
toilets and refreshments. The children thanked Rusty with a homemade card which he displays this in the bar
for all lo see. Sadly, Rusty passed away in September so we will be asking around for the new contact lo keep
the fun of 'Rusly's field, in all of our memories and for future generations.
Playgroup and Nursery children have settled brilliantly into the new 202512026 academic year and again this is
a reflection of the leadership team, practitioners, selling ethos and suptK)rt from parents. Communication has
been highlighted by the use of Kindedy and verbally between all practitioners, senior lead team and parents.
Again, this highlights muttjal respect for all, with continued support for all staff and all families and children,
helping them lo feel welcomed and sellled.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
At the beginning of the yeaT 2025, we all agreed lo have a new additional role lo the PMC,. which is a the
'fundraising champion,, this iole is now going lo be a joint PMC member contribution. This is because the role
has proved that planning events in advanced has supported our social gathering and fundraising. This has
worked really well as we now hold infomial meetings to allFact new parenlslcarers and family social events,
which also include the local community. The PMC Started a newsletter of Iheir own which highlights the work
of the PMC and how lamilies have supFK)rted the events held and what the fundraising money will go towards,
this newsletter will conlinue lo be produced and sent out to all parents. Events are already planned for 2026,
biinging the families and community together in support of our wonderful Pre-school.
Sadly, we will be saying goodbye lo a couple of committee members this year as their children have now
moved on lo primary school. As of the AGM we will need lo have 6 parents as part of the PMC, which is 10%
of our children in setting. We are hoping from the AGM that we have new committee members to welcome and
bring new ideas and skills lo the team.
We look foNard lo another great year for the Pre-Sch(K)l.

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financlal statements
The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been
prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Slalemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Slandard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021 leffeclive
1 January 20191,, Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the
UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been Prepared
under the historical cost convention.
Income
All income is recognised in the Slalemenl of Financial Activities On￿ the charity has enlillement to the
funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or conslruclive obligation
committing the charity to that expenditure, it IS PTobable that a transfer of economic benefits will be
required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is
accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost
related lo the category. Where costs cannot be directly allribuled lo part￿ular headings they have been
allocated lo activities on a basis consistent with Ihe use of resources
Taxation
The charity is exempt Irom tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the
Iruslees.
Restricted ftjnds Can only be used for particular restiicled purpo*s wlhin the objects of the charity.
Reslriclions arise when specified by the dorKJr or when funds are raised lor particular restricted
purposes.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial
slalemenls.
Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities on a straight
line basis over the period of the lease.
