## **Objectives and activities**

## **Summary of Objectives**

Our charity objectives are:

TO PROMOTE AND FOSTER THE ENJOYMENT AND UNDERSTANDING OF BRASS BAND MUSIC FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AND IN SUPPORT OF OTHER LOCAL CHARITIES.

We achieve this through the management of two brass bands which, between them, entertain and inform the public and provide a musical experience for people of all ages, incomes and levels of competence. The charity provides instruments, music, conductors and rehearsal facilities. The bands strive for musical excellence and support local charitable events.

## **Summary of Activities**

In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, so our activities fall into 4 broad groupings.

1. Providing a musical experience for audiences by performing in public and private concerts. We also use these performances to raise some of the money we need to fund the charity

2. Providing a musical experience for players through regular rehearsals directed by an experienced conductor using suitable music and by providing instruments on loan where necessary

3. Striving for excellence though contests

4. Supporting other charities by playing at their events
