Brown Clee YFC Trustees Report (2022-2023)
Another great year for Brown Clee has been ticked off - and what a year it has been!
We’ve shown our faces at nearly all county and club events around Shropshire, including quiz nights, pubs of the month, YFC dances, stockjudging events, carol singing, skittles nights, speed shears, bonfires, Easter Ball, dinner dances and so on.
We’ve had our fair share of competitions this year too, with the Call My Bluff team going through to West Mid Area. We’ve also had teams in Brainstrust, Situations Vacant, Junior & Senior Member of the Year, and Stockman of the Year, just to name a few.
We even gave the Shropshire Show a go for the first time in many years. We had a good spread of static entries on the day, making the club's name shown in the tent.
Tug of War has gone from strength to strength. Having got 3 teams through to West Mid Area, it really made all the training which went into it worthwhile.
Rally 2023! Wow what can I say - the members and club really pulled together entering twice in most classes and having a huge turnout on the day. BCYFC won the rally overall for the 6th time and came home with a total of 4 trophies.
We even bought back a BCYFC dance this year, having a foam party. This was a fab night, thanks to all those making the effort coming to ‘the deep deep south’ to enjoy it.
Brown Clee has certainly smashed fundraising this year, with an all-time record. We had many fundraising activities, such as: our annual log lug, carol singing, 3 Peaks Challenge and our foam party. We managed to give £16,400 to charity - this was split between Midland Air Ambulance, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, Severn Hospice & Shropshire Rural Support.
