INTRODUCTION: "If you make the world better for kld•, you make It better for •veryon¢." says Kld Pr¢•ld¢nt. Divine Word Social Service Society can Say proudly in loud voice, that we have establi8hed a computer Centre and courses on Basic technologies in Computer Education, to train the rural and the poor educated youth at Arnold Communlcatlon Centre IACC). The center wa• Ble•8ed by Very. Rev. Fr. Ignatlm 8anthuraJa 8VD the Provlnclal Superlor of Indla HyderAbad Provlnce and Inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Eryk Koppa and Bro. Carlo• Jo•e FerrAda 8VD th¢ Genernl Vlsltators. Yes, we have done it: indeed, It was a great noble task and It WQS PO8slble by DWSSS due to the humanltarlaft approach of MISSIONARY SISTERS OF PETER CIA VERS to whom we are Indebtsd and very gratefvl lor ever. This projeci has been helping the many unemployed youth and school dropouts to get trained on Ba8ic Technologie8 with a Special motive to help. Free Yechnlcal Educatlon. such as computer education classes on basic technologies is conducted in few of our institutions primarily with a view to pursue a computer diploma cour8e for poor girls and boys. Free mechanical & electrical diploma courses are conducted to Ihe le88 privileged and poor students who cannot pursue their higher studies. We employed diverse methods in a sensiti&qtion program. including lectures, practical sessions With real time projects and public demonstrations to highlight the growing importance and almed to emphasize the significance of rapidly advancing technolo&y in today's society and technolo&y An creating job opportunities in this generation. 2. ARNOLD COMMUNICATION CENTRE
The 'Arnold Communleatlon Centre is one of our member institutions, full). equipped in communication technologies and now envisages to train the migrants, orphans. semi orphan and Slum educated youth in computer skills in order to facilitate them with prospective job opportunities, enabling them to achieve higher positions in life for the common good. In today's world where everything has a Computer element embedded in the system. having the basic knowledge about this wonder machine is like having a magic key which can open any door for you. And we Saw tremendou3 changes in the lives of unemployed youth. ACC 3. Unlockln ortunltle8: The benefits of taking a computer cour8e are many and regardle88 what a student wants to do with his education, he will likely find that many benefits come with hi8 increased knowledge. Today, computers are u8ed in more environments and for more functions than ever before. and their use 18 only expected to increase. Knowing the inner workings of a computer will definitely save the user time. and decrease his stress. when he is forced to interact with a computer at work. or in an informal setting. Knowing the many uses of computers and how to access them effectively is a valuable skill in today's world. Beneflt• of ba•lc Com uter Tralnln . . ACC conducted 8hort courses on Basic technologies in Computer Education. and trained the rural and the poor educated and unemployed youth. ACC also held diploma courses on 'PC HARDWARE ENGINEERING. We have selected 200 candidates to under go a 30 days of Ba81C computer and 15 days of Hands on training. Till now we have completed traininR for 3 batche8 that 18 alm08t 150 students, each batch contain 50 students. DWSSS has broutht many companies to%ether and conducted Job fair and 45 students have Rot placed in different streams in different reputed companies. Remaining are awaiting for Job openings. Provided the stationary to the students at Free of Cost. 4. THE DIRECTORS EXPERIENCE: As I took over as the Director of DWSSS this is my rst project in view of all these factors, a computer literate has tremendous advantage above those who are not. This is why most high schools and even degree colleges insist today on their students to complete the computer courses offered whether they feel they need it or not. You cannot really survive in today
technological jungle without knowing how to handle a computer. For a 8tudent coming from a remote rural area stands at a disadvantageous position. Therefore, we need to equip them technologicall). to face the compeiitive world. Primarily they have to equip themselves with the minimum computer knowledge. Therefore. it becomes our prerogative to impart this computer training course. Therefore, DWSSS in collaboration with ACC have decided to offer this basic intensive computer technological course to the students coming from a remote rural village of our missions. I could experience the gratefulness and the increase of confidence level in the faces of the children that they are not second to none. When they come to shake their hands thanking for Course Conducted, I could see that they are writing their own bright future. When the parents approach me to thank. trying to touch my feet. l always told them that it 18 Ml88lonAry $18ters of St. Peter Claver to be thanked and pray for them. I could experience their helplessness and poverty. Undoubtedly? In my experlence th18 project has got tremendous power to change the late ol UMployed youtlL Receiving lots of appreciations and thanks from all the sections of people of the society. Finally. I musi say that Thls Project has created an everlasting impact in the minds of every one and remains green in their minds. 5. IN THE WORDS OF BENEFICIARIES & TEACHERS: We were really very happy about the feedback which we were getting from the public. Hopefully, we had assured them that we are going to continue the program in the following year in Several rural areas and interior mission places Without fail. That wa8 the only consoling reply that we could make to them. We ean Ilsten to the e Te••lon8 of Students: l. G Dlllp Kumar from Balkampet says. l attempted several interviews. but I was selected in none a8 I have no computer knowledge, after hearing about this free course and joined, I was taught ba8lC computer technologies like MS WORD, MS EXCEL. POWER POINT, Trping, Data Entry and few more. This was very helpful for me to be more confident and I got placed in Dominos Piz7A as full-time employee. 2. Dlvya Bala from Uppal, Hyderabad: I discontinued my studies after intermedialte and ivas jobless, l joined the computer course at DWSSS and learned basic of computer and now on April 121h joined as Receptionist in St. Teresa's Hospital, Hyderabad earning 20000 per month. Thanks to DWSSS. 3. Mr. M. K Reddy: An Associate with DWSSS says: I have observing the banners and Free Computer Education Student coming daily for the classes after talking to the students I feel it is a great initiative from DWSSS to help the poor students from rural and slum area, l am
proud to be an Associate with DWSSS. my Sincere thanks to Missionarv sisters of St. Peter Claver. 4. Mrs. Usha Ranl a lady teacher from Zilla Parishad High School, Ramanthapur Hyderabad: In my childhood I suffered a lot to get good computer education in my school days, no one encouraged us and we had no facilities but now l am very happy to see the girls getting encouragement from DWSSS it's a great initiated to promote girl's education. As women I feel very proud of it. Many ihanks to DWSSS & Peter Claver Sisters. 5. M.
