Constltution and ObFects
The organisation is a charitable compary limrted by guarantee. incorporated on 19 July 1995 and
registered a5 a charity on 26 August 1995. The charrvs objects and regulations are governed by the
memorandum and articles of association. The object of the charity is to advance the education of the
public in the history of road pawn8ertransport.
TTh￿teeS. Trustees and Prindpal OFficers
The trustees of the charitable company are its trustees forthe purp)se of charty law and throughout
this reportare collectivety referred to asthe twstees. The trusteesthat served in the period are shown
on page 2. New trustees are Selected based on the skills they can provide in order to ensure proper
governance of the company. ProspettNe tnFSteesare interviewed and when app)inted provided with
appropriate induction.
Publlc benefft
The trustee5 have referred to the guidance contsined in the Charity Commission's general guidance
on public benefrt when reviewing our aims and objettives and in planning our future activkties. In
particularthe trustees consider how artivities will contribute tothe aims and objectfvesthey have set.
Reserves pollcy
The Trustees have reviewed the charivs requirements for reserves in light of the main risks to the
organisation. The rese￿e5 are needed to meet the working capital requirements of the charity on an
annual basis and the trustees are mindhjl of the need to keep the unrestricted reserve5 at a level
which will meet these requirements.
Summary of artl¥ltles In the year
During the year attNities were severety curtailed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, a
small number of trips. lettures and meetings were held when pemiitted. and some meetings were
held through the medium of Zoom. Several books were published.
Summary of the flnanclal perfornwnce
In 2020 the manner in which branches and other affiliates were funded has changed in that they
now receive a block grant each year. rather than being based on indpiidual member subscripth)ns.
This is refiected in the accounts as an increase in income to the or8anisation, and an increase in
charitable expenditure. There have been no ￿rther donations in relation to the settlng up of the
Bus ArchNe in 202012019- £10,911}. Furtherniore. no legacies were recerved in 202012019-
£83,267, of which 50% was, in accordance wlth the board's policy. re-gifted to The Bus Archive).
Overall, an operdting deficit of £3,630 {2019- surplus of £37,795) was achieved. supplemented by
unrealised investment gain5 of £24.233 (2019- £43.589).

Over the year the reserves of Omnibus Society have risen to £430.204 at the yearond12019 -
£409,601). The trustees believe this represents a very heaFthy reserrfe to sustain the fvture
operation5 of the society and they continue to seek opportuntties to use this to further the Soclevs
charitable objectrves. After the year end the Society has made a loan of £250.CKMJ to The Bus Archlve
to facilitate purchase of new premises.
Trustee5' responslbllltles
The trustees are responsible for preparin8 the Trustee￿ Annual ReFJOrt and the accounts In
accordance with applicable law and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practi￿.
Company law requires the trustees to P￿pare the finanaal ststements for each financial year which
give a true and fair view of the stste of affairs of the tharitable company and of the incoming
resources and application of ￿sourCeS. including the income & expenditure. of the charitsble
company for that period. In preparin8 these financial statements the trustees are required to:

The trustees have overall respon￿bIlIty for ensuring that the d￿ri￿ble company has appropriate
systems of control, financial and otherwise. They are resp)nsible for keeping proper accountlng
records which discbse wlth ￿8$Onable accuracy at any time the financial posttion of the charitable
company and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the
Companies Art 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable
company and heno for taknng reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other
irregularities.

This report has been prepared in accordance wlth the Ststements of Recommended Practice:
Accounting and Reporting by Charities (issued in January 20151 and in accordance with the special
provisions for small companies under port 15 of the Companies Act 211)6.

The charl￿S trustees (who are also directors of the company under company lawl are responsible
forthe preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audtt is not required this year
under Section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under Part 16 of the Companies Act
2006 and is ellgible for independent examination. rt Is my responsibility to:

to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions glven by the Charity

My examination was carried out at¢ordance with the General Directions gFven by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any

concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given
by the accounts.
