The Henleaze Concert Society is run by a Committee of Trustees and Volunteers.
Trustees and Members of the Committee are recruited from Members of the Society.
There are at least 2 meetings per year when all Committee members meet to further the smooth running of the Society. The Committee comprises:
Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Secretary, Publicity Officer and Bar man who are all volunteers.
2022-2023 SEASON
During this year, 6 concerts were organised and advertised to the wider public. The cost of tickets was as follows:
-
Season Tickets £85 for 6 concerts • Membership £12 pa
-
• Members tickets £15 per concert • Non-Members tickets £18 • Under 25 years £5
The concerts were:
| October | Bruch and Beethoven |
|---|---|
| November | Gershwin |
| January | Baroque concert |
| March | English string music |
| May | Mozart Wind Serenade |
| June | Summer Serenade |
We continue to include pre-concert talks in the ticket price plus a programme.
We currently have 37 members and sold 62 season tickets. We also receive donations which are eligible for Gift Aid. The Society is registered for Gift Aid.
The Society was originally set up to allow local people access to high quality concerts without the need to travel into the City Centre. Many of our attendees are disabled and find travelling difficult and we continue to support those people. Carers are able to come with a disabled person free of charge and if advance notice is given, we are able to provide suitable spaces for wheelchairs. The Society also promotes young people. Tickets for under 25’s are only £5 and there is also a young performers platform where young players can gain experience performing.
The AGM was held on 21[st] September 2023.
The Accounts are uploaded to the Charity Commission website. This year we were fortunate to receive a legacy from Walter Finlay which will support the Society whilst recovering from the effects of Covid. The balance in Lloyds Bank on 30[th] June was £23,438.20.
We have taken measures to increase publicity and take card payments on the door which will grow audiences to these excellent concerts.
