Independent Financial advice was sought and paid for. The results were investments rnade to meet the dual aims of providing IncornLe and Capital Growth, with the Funds being accessible should normal Fund raising" activities fail to cover the Charity's primary aim costs. Subsequentlyi further legacies have t)een received, notably in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2017, 2020 and 2021 all of which havf: been subjected to the sarAe basic policy principals as those received in 2001. Despite receiving legacies in 2020 arid 2021, the irnpact of Covid on fundraising and donations resulted in legacy funcls being utilised during 2021 to support the charity, s principal aims. Unfortunat ely the cost of living Crisis and shortage of legacy income has subsequently mea nt that this has had to continue during the intervening years. The Trustees have elected to follow c'.urrent cost Accounting in respect of the Investrnent, annually declaring in the Profit and Loss Account, any gains or losses arising. During thè years sinco 2022 the Inconie from the funds has been used to assist in meeting the direct costs of the chari.ty. Until 1st September 2023 these involNTed paying for fostering and rehoTring the last few dogs, then meeting the cost of veterinary invoices generated as a result of directly assisting owners c)n benefits and in financial difficulty. Soffie support was tTraintained for City Cat Shelter during this period. Since then, City Cat Shelter, 2¥nn Cra ske Welfare Support Fund and Rosie's Register have very kindly helped with veterinary costs on our behalf for people in financial hardshipy ItLOSt of whom w.ere referred by their vets. Donations were also rnade to Sompting Wildlife Rescue. Lynne's Happy Retirernents la horse rescue charity). Worthing An imal Clinic, Barby Keel Animal Sanctuaryr PDSA Brighton Hospital, Garbo, s Germa n Shepherd Dog Rescue, K-9 Rescue Remedyy adars and East Sussex Wildlife Rescu e and Ambulance Service. The charity also contributed to the veterinary bills c)f Southern Sighthound Rescue, Eastbourne Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue, Help fc)r Hedgehogs and Hogs Wallow ConuTrunity Group.

These donations have been rnade possikjle by the generous legacies received over the years. Further charities will be assessed with a view to receiving donations in the future, assuming funds are avcailable. The Trustees understand and accept that in the absence of substantial If:gacy income during the next few years, their support of other charities willL eventually have to cease. They have made the decision to continue with generoiis donations despite this. feeling that so any charities are experiencing challLenging times and need help now.
