Friends of Youlgrave School
All Saints, Church of England {VA) Primary School
Alport Lane, Youlgrave DE45 IWL
Charity number: 1048563
Trustees, Annual Report for Year ending 31Si July 2020
Introductlon
The charity is an association with a governing document set out in rules adopted on 10 May
1995 and amended on 6 July 1995 and 12 November 2012.
History, obJectTves and actlvlties of the Trust
The Friends of Youlgrave School exists for the purpose of advancing the education of pupils
of Youlgrave School by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities not normally
provided by the Local Authority.
Names of the charity trustees who manage the charity
Lisa Bingham - trustee and chair since February 2020
Heather Stelling- trustee
Libby Bryant took on the role of secretary and Kirsty Prince took role of treasurer in
February 2020.
Management and governance arrangements
The friend5 of Youlgrave School is no longer representative of two groups. The school
association YASSA wa5 incorporated into the Friend5 of Youlgrave School, as there were no
ongoing volunteers for the committee roles required.
The Friends of Youlgrave School is now open both to the parents and guardians of children
at Youlgrave school, teachers and anyone else who is supportive of the objectives of the
charity. Funds are raised from the general public and use is made of gift aid. The head
teacher advises the governing body of any projects within the school, which merit support
and decisions are made bythe governing body.
The school association IYASSAI was also open to all parents or guardians of children at
Youlgrave School and to all teachers. This had an elerted committee, which was closed in
2020 for the reasons stated above.
The governors annually review the risks that the charlty faces. As with many small charities
the main threat is from shortage of donations and shortage of volunteers to take on the
essential roles.
Procedures and policy for grant rnaking
The trustees usually meet once a year and consider what grants they will make and review
any feedback that has been received. The trustees always seek feedback on the actual use
of the grants given and the achievements made. The explanation and feedback received are
sufficient for monitoring and quality for the grants made.

Achievements and performance of the Trust
During the year the Friends has continued to raise sums to allow the school to finance
capital and other improvements in the school. The charity granted donations amounting to
£25,700. YASSA continued to support the curriculum with visits, events and equipment to
enrich the education provided.
Policy on reserves
Cash In the bank 31, July 2020, was £4214.93, split between reserve and current accounts.
The main risk to the charity is loss of fundraising ability. The reserve accounts are to cover
ongoing grants that could be required in the following 12 months. Money in the reserve
account is held for long term project provision.
Future plans
The trustees intend to continue providing grants to Youlgrave School in a similar way to the
recent past, with the empha515 on maintaining the high level of education provided. The
trustees will retain flexibility to the timin& and scale of grant making.
Statement of trustees, responsibilities
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year,
which show a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and its financial
activities for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required
to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently:
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended
practise has been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the
financial statements- and
prepare the financial statements on the going concern unless it is inappropriate to
presume that the charity will continue in operational existence
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper records, which disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity, and to enable them to ensure that
the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 1993. They are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the charlty and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention
and detertion of fraud and other irregularities.
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charlty's
trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the
charities Act 2011 but that an independent examination is required, on account of the
income exceeding £25,000. An independent examiner has been asked to..
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charitie5 Act
to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity
Commission (Under section 145{5llbl of the Charities Act, and
to state whether particular matters have come to his attention.

Independent Examlner
The trustees are grateful to John Bishop for undertaking an independent examination of the
accounts this year.
The trustees declare that they have approved the trustee< report above
