## **Annual Chair Report 2019-2020**

To say it’s been an interesting year for the pre-school would be an understatement. Normally during this report I’d tell you about all the great fundraising we’ve done but unfortunately, there’s not much to say. On paper, our fundraising for the year is considerably higher than usual thanks to the money we received from the Co-op community fund, which was just under £5,200. This money is earmarked for improving our outdoor space, a project which has unfortunately been delayed. We didn’t get to do our annual Easter Egg hunt or Teddy Trek. We didn’t get to arrange our ever-popular sports day. We also had plans for a fantastic pamper evening, in conjunction with a local Rainbows unit.

This year also saw the departure of two valued members of the Elworth Pre-school team – Margaret and Jo. Margaret has worked at the pre-school for many years and had a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be missed. Jo had been with us for several years, after being a parent at the preschool herself. She brought an enthusiasm and passion to the team that will be hard to replace. We wish them both well as they begin the next chapter in their lives. We are delighted to welcome Alex Bramhill as our new Deputy Manager. Alex has some fantastic and creative ideas which we can’t wait for her to share with use. Jenn has also joined the team on a temporary basis and has proved popular with the staff and children.

We have all heard the term “unprecedented” a few too many times over the last 6 months, but it really is the best way to describe the situation. We are having to adapt quickly to ever changing guidelines, so I appreciate your patience as we try and navigate this new landscape. My thanks, as ever, go to the committee for their efforts over the last year. The support of a good committee really is invaluable to the smooth running of the pre-school. I also cannot thank Helen and the team enough for everything they have done this year. Even when we were shut, they showed their dedication by working through online training and attending Zoom meetings to plan for our reopening.

It hasn’t been an easy year, and none of us really know what to expect for the coming year either. Whatever changes we may face in the coming months; we will adapt, and we will emerge stronger than ever. But you can be certain that our priority always has and always will be your children.

Kirsten Brookes

Committee Chairperson
