How Old is the Club? **Just 1 year old** How Many Members? 20 +  & **slowly growing. It is a quieter, more intimate venue for those finding the Bodmin Club too big or who are unable to travel to Bodmin**

## Future Plans 

- ⧫Continue finding funding opportunities to enable members to attend our clubs & events in the face of rising transport costs & cuts to social care packages 

- ⧫Help to develop & support more clubs & facilities for North Cornwall & a day centre for Bodmin 

- ⧫More networking & collaborating with local businesses and other providers including Brandon Trust & HFT 

- ⧫Extending our reach with community centres, healthcare facilities and other organizations & supporting community organisations who support Horizons 

- ⧫Setting up an allotment with the National Trust 

- ⧫Organising litter-picking groups

## Our Governance 

## During the year we: 

- ⧫ Updated our Constitution & Renamed the Charity 

**to reflect growth & future plans, to open charity membership to individuals & organisations who can support us & to clarify our powers to: (i) raise and deposit funds (ii) engage & renumerate workers iii) buy, or lease premises iv) appoint sub-committees** 

⧫ Elected a new Management Committee & 7 new trustees **with a range of experience, knowledge & expertise as parents & carers, in the caring professions & in finance & accountancy.** 

- ⧫ Thanked the Outgoing Committee **who oversaw the charity’s business for the first half of the year** 

## Our Finances & Funding 

## Our Funding is from: 

- ⚫ Charitable trusts **to fund our core costs: our p/t Co-ordinator, volunteer travel costs, Club rents, website & accountancy** 

⚫ Small grants & donations **for events and activities of the Club** ⚫ Income Generation **to help with Club costs - from members fees, club sales ,charity runs, bake sales & online crowdfunding** Reserves policy: **We aim to hold a  minimum 3 months running costs to ensure (i) continuity of services (ii) sufficient cashflow to cover delays in income (iii) flexibility to cover the unexpected** Risk Management Policy: **Our Budget is reviewed quarterly & commitments are only made ahead where sufficient funds have been secured to ensure a positive working balance.**

## FINANCIAL SUMMARY -  HOW WE PERFORMED THIS YEAR 

**Our Treasurer this year has set up our accounts in Xero accounting software, making them easy-to-read and providing accessible profit and loss reports. Our total income for the year was £54,473 made up of restricted grants totalling £39,201 to fund our freelance Co-ordinator and the development of Bodmin & District Horizons and income of £15,272 raised from our Bodmin & Wadebridge Clubs from weekly subscriptions, memberships, club sales, raffles, small grants & donations. Our total expenditure was £46,115  with £31,217  of the restricted grants spent on our freelance Co-ordinator and £14,893 spent on Club activities. So the surplus for the year amounted to £8,358, made up of £7,984 restricted grants carrying forwards and a small profit of £374 from our Clubs.** 

## STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES’ FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

**In accordance with their responsibilities, trustees have:** 

- **Prepared a financial account and statement for the charity’s financial year which fairly represents the receipts and payments for the period and are on a going concern basis.** 

- **Selected suitable accounting policies and applied them consistently.** 

- **Made judgements & accounting estimates that are reasonable & prudent.** 

- **Ensured proper accounting records are kept and internal controls to ensure their accuracy.** 

- **Regularly reviewed financial and operating performance.** 

- **Made available to the charity’s Independent Examiner all the charity’s accounting records & related information necessary to carry out her work & made a full disclosure of all relevant information.** 

## RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES & EXAMINER 

**I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of** _**Bodmin & District Horizons**_ **for the period ended 31 March 2025. The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act).** 

**I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.** 

**I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:** • **accounting records were not in accordance with section 130 of the Act;  and** 

**I have no concerns & have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.**
