Since Since[taking] taking over over my my role[role][at] at Cornerstone,[Cornerstone,] it[it] has[has] been[been] quite[quite] a[a] journey.[ journey.][ There] There have[have]
undoubtedly undoubtedly been been many many challenges,[challenges,] but[but] even even in[in] these[these] early[early] stages,[stages,] it[it] has[has] been[been] an[an]
exciting exciting year year to to see see the the developments, developments, impacts, impacts, and and enthusiasm enthusiasm of[of] people people who[who] come come into into[the] the building. building.
This This year year has[has] been been a a year year[of] of foundation foundation building.[building.] The[The] direction[direction] of[of] the[the] charity[charity] to[to] utilise[utilise]
the the building building as as a a more more impactful impactful and and established established space space has[has] required[required] extensive[extensive] work,[work,]
both both financially financially and and physically.[physically.] All[All] while[while][still] still trying[trying] to[to] maintain[maintain] the[the] current[current] and[and] developing developing projects[projects] we we are[are][so] so very[very] keen[keen] to[to] offer.[offer.] Behind[Behind] the[the] scenes.[scenes.] we we are[are] working[working]
hard hard on on updates updates to to[paperwork,] paperwork, building building restoration,[restoration,] charity[charity] structure,[structure,] project[project] plans,[plans,] and,[and,]
of of course, course, the the vital vital fundraising fundraising needed needed to to address address all[all] of[of] this. this. In[In] addition,[addition,] we we have have also[also] extended extended our our partnership, partnership, and and recognition recognition has[has] helped helped us[us] address[address] some some of[of] these[these]
challenges challenges and[and] brought brought some some exciting[exciting][opportunities] opportunities for[for] the[the] year[year] ahead.[ahead.]

Our[Our] mission[mission] is[is] to[to] provide[provide] compassionate[compassionate] outreach outreach and and practical practical support support to to those those in[in] need, need, particularly particularly targeting targeting the[the] local[local] community, community, families[families] in[in] need, need, and and elderly elderly residents. residents. In In recent recent years, years, the the charity charity was was supported supported to to reestablish reestablish itself itself with with a a view view to to utilising utilising the the building building to to[its] its full full potential, potential, founded founded with[with] a a deep deep commitment commitment to[to] social social responsibility responsibility and and community community welfare.[welfare.] Our Our roots roots are are[still] still embedded embedded in[in] the the Christian[Christian] belief belief that that the the church church was was founded founded on, on, and and this this is[is] the the basis basis for[for] why why we we want want to to be be a a support support within within the the local local community. community.
We We began[began] the[the] newest newest stage stage of[of] our our journey journey with[with] a a single[single] volunteer[volunteer] who[who] took took on on the[the] mammoth mammoth[task] task of[of] addressing addressing a a much-outdated much-outdated organisation. organisation. This[This] included[included] updating updating and and upkeep upkeep of of a a dilapidated dilapidated building, building, project project managing managing and and development development of of new new and and exciting exciting projects/partnerships, projects/partnerships, and and an an overall overall revamp/rebranding revamp/rebranding of of the the entire entire charity charity to to ensure ensure its[its] longevity[longevity] and[and] is[is] as as impactful impactful[as] as possible possible for[for] the[the] community.[community.]
That That volunteer volunteer has has become become our our first first employee, employee, driven driven by by a a passion passion to to make make a a meaningful meaningful impact impact in[in][the] the lives[lives] of[of] those[those] around around us us and and to[to] establish[establish] Cornerstone Cornerstone in[in] the[the] heart heart of the of the community. community.

As As Cornerstone Cornerstone is is a a relatively relatively small small charity, charity, supported supported mainly mainly by by volunteers volunteers and and with with a a single single employee employee that that is is funded funded by by a a separate separate trust, trust, and and the the premises premises requirements requirements consist consist primarily primarily of of running running costs costs such such as as utilities utilities etc. etc. there there is is no no large large complex complex reserve's reserve's needs. needs. Therefore, Therefore, in in this this brief brief statement, statement, Cornerstone Cornerstone has has adopted adopted a a simple simple policy policy of of keeping keeping 2-3 2-3 months’ months' funds funds that that will will cover cover the the building building operating operating costs costs or or any any unforeseen unforeseen emergencies. emergencies.[This] This equates equates to[to] £2000 f2000 unrestricted unrestricted reserves reserves at[at] any any time.[time.]

In In particular, particular, we we are are seeking seeking multiple multiple grants grants to to cover cover the the urgent urgent roof roof replacement, replacement, which which has has an an estimated estimated cost cost of of £140K. f 140K. In In view view of of this this present present necessary necessary work, work, there there may may be be a a period period of[of] restricted restricted funds funds held held in in reserve, reserve, which which will will be[be] designated designated specifically specifically[for] for this this work work and and held held until until such such time time as as the the total total amount amount is[is] achieved achieved and and work work is[is] completed. completed.

DaySix: DaySix: At At Cornerstone,[Cornerstone,] we we[have] have partnered[partnered] with[with] DaySix DaySix to[to] host[host] a[a] regular[regular] drop-in[drop-in] where[where] men men can can connect, connect,[interact,] interact,[challenge] challenge each[each] other[other] to[to] a a game game of[of] snooker,[snooker,] pool,[pool,] chess,[chess,] carrom carrom or or table table[tennis,] tennis, where[where] men men can can find[find] support, support, talk[talk] openly, openly, be[be] encouraged[encouraged] and[and] challenged challenged to[to] develop develop stronger/healthier stronger/healthier[lifestyles] lifestyles and[and] relationships.[relationships.]
Homeschool/Educator Homeschool/Educator Drop-In: Drop-ln:
Cornerstone Cornerstone was was approached[approached] about about opening opening the[the] space space to[to] support[support] those[those] who[who] homeschool/educate homeschool/educate as as a a place place for[for] children children to[to] interact,[interact,] socialise socialise and and have have fun, fun, while while parents parents could[could] also[also] support support one one[another.] another. We We started[started] the[the] drop-in,[drop-in,] which[which] proved[proved] very very popular. popular. Following[Following] a a summer summer break,[break,] we we relaunched relaunched this[this] to[to] connect connect with[with] tutors[tutors] and[and] activity activity providers providers who who can can provide provide additional additional exciting[exciting] options options for[for] the[the] young young people people attending. attending.
