Objectives and Activities
The charity produces an annual festival of events of an artistic and cultural nature that have broad appeal to those who live, work or study in Dulwich. The charity aims to obtain commercial and individual sponsorship for its events supplemented by ticket sales.
In addition the charity makes occasional grants to other organisations whose activities accord with the charity's objects.
The charity’s activities are designed to promote an appreciation of the arts and culture, bring the local community together, and advance education through a programme of schools activities and family events and workshops. Trustees have regard, when planning the festival and associated activities, to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Achievements and performance
In 2025 the Festival presented a programme with opportunities for all ages to engage in meaningful arts and cultural experiences in a variety of venues around Dulwich. The family offering was expanded, featuring performances, workshops and activities. More community programming and outreach was added. 85 events were scheduled, including family events, visual art events, theatre, comedy and cabaret, singing and dance, classical music, jazz, literature, wildlife and wellbeing, local history walks and talks, and creative community events. A significant number of those events were free, and concessionary tickets were also available for paid events: 3371 tickets were sold in total. 7,000 people attended the Festival Fair, which is a free community family event.

In addition to the events programme, the Festival organizes two weekends of Artist Open House events, showcasing the wealth of artistic talent in the community across all media and disciplines and offering free entry to over 150 venues across Dulwich and neighbouring postcodes.
Financial review
In 2025 the Festival was once again supported by generous sponsors and by a grant from the Communities programme of the London Borough of Southwark.
At the end of 2025, the Festival had retained funds of £61,622. The charity has a reserves policy and the level of reserves is reviewed annually. In 2025, the reserves were set at £30,000 to ensure the viability of a festival with a core team that can be funded. Trustees plan to expand their outreach work with schools in the coming year.
Structure governance and management
The Festival is a Foundation Community Interest Organisation, led by a board of trustees. Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years, and are briefed by the chair of trustees on appointment. The board meets every other month .
The commitment of a small core organising team and a substantial body of volunteers makes it possible to put on an ambitious programme. The volunteers distribute the festival guide, steward the events and attend to the box office.
None of the Trustees is paid by the charity for their supervisory and fiduciary duties which are performed on a voluntary basis. The volunteers contribute greatly to the smooth running of the festival and contribute to maintaining low ticket prices for the benefit of the charity’s beneficiaries. The value of the work of the volunteers is not charged in the income and expenditure account.

Notes to the Accounts
For the year ended 31 December 2025
1. Accounting Policies
The accounts are prepared under the historical cost convention with items recognised at cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant note(s) to these accounts.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and with the Charities Act 2011.
Income is accounted for on a receivable basis. Grants and income from sponsors are given for the general use of the Festival.
Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis.
The value of any voluntary help received is not included in the accounts but is described in the Trustees’ report.
Debtors (including trade debtors) are measured on initial recognition at settlement amount after any trade discounts or amount advanced by the charity. Subsequently, they are measured at the cash or other consideration expected to be received.
Liabilities are recognised where it is more likely than not that there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to pay out resources and the amount of the obligation can be measured with reasonable certainty.
Ticket sales represent income from the events that constitute the Festival.
All costs are charged in the Statement of Financial Activities directly to the category to which they relate: Operating costs include the cost of artists, venue hire, catering and equipment hire that are appropriate to the staging of an event. Publicity costs include the design and printing of the general programme and of material specific to certain events. Overheads include insurance, telephone, website hosting, stationery, and general administrative costs.

8. Transactions with Trustees and related parties
The charity did not have any employees during the year (2024 nil).
None of the Trustees is paid by the charity for their supervisory and fiduciary duties.
There were no payments to Trustees (or their connected parties) as sub-contractors for the delivery of the charity's charitable activities during the year.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the CIO”) for the year ended 31 December 2025.
Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the CIO’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
