## **MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE YEAR**
## **The Purpose of Scouting**
Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
## **The Values of Scouting**
As Scouts we are guided by these values
**Integrity** – We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal. **Respect** – We have self-respect and respect others. **Care** – We support others and take care of the world in which we live. **Belief –** We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes. **Co-operation** – We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends
## **The Scout Method**
Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:
- enjoy what they are doing and have fun
- take part in activities indoors and outdoors
- learn by doing
- share in spiritual reflection
- take responsibility and make choices
- undertake new and challenging activities
- make and live by their Promise.
The Group consisted of 48 youth members covering the Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts plus two Young Leaders from the Greenford District. In addition, there were adults involved as leaders or administrators – all of whom gave their services voluntarily.
The continuing COVID-19 pandemic again restricted the Group’s activities, but in May Viking Cubs and Beavers returned face-to-face; Monday’s Normans Cubs closed and Cubs transferred to Vikings. Our Vikings Cub Leader has kept the Pack active throughout, with section meetings on Zoom plus indoor or outdoor meetings when Covid regulations allowed. Three adults received their Long Service Awards in June.
Numbers were good when in the autumn term all sections returned to face-to-face meetings. Fourteen Vikings Cubs had a day out at Paccar Scout Camp in October. Remembrance Day was attended in Greenford. Meetings were face-to-face from January 2022. Scouts attended the weekend Freezer Camp in February. Scouts, Cubs and Beavers worked on badges at all meetings and a high number have been awarded.

The 2021 AGM, at which our Treasurer resigned (having held the post for six years) was held outside the Scout Hut. Our GSL/Scout Leader resigned from the Group in October after fifty years. Greenford District confirmed the appointments of a new Group Scout Leader, a new Scout Leader, a Group Treasurer and an Assistant Beaver Scout Leader.
The Executive Committee met three times on Zoom, twice outside and four times inside the Hut. The Group owns its site and buildings so Working Parties were held for maintenance in June, August, November and March. Four new Scout tents and some Beaver tents were purchased in May and June. Guttering was erected along the south side of the Hut in July. LED lighting replaced all lights in the Scout Hut in October. The front doors and fire doors were replaced in December.
Further grants from HM Government have helped to defray the loss of fundraising opportunities, subscriptions and Group running costs.
The Group’s governing documents are those of The Scout Association. They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association.
The Group is a trust established under the rules which are common to all Scouts. The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy, Organisation & Rules of The Scout Association.
At the end of the year income reserves amounted to £55,034. The Group’s policy on reserves is to hold sufficient funds readily available to support, members and the headquarters for which it is responsible.
The accounts have been drawn up on a receipts and payments basis which is consistent with the previous year.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the 2[nd] Northolt (Wood End) Scout Group for the year ended 31[st] March 2022
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the 2[nd] Northolt (Wood End) Scout Group you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the 2[nd] Northolt (Wood End) Scout Group accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the 2[nd] Northolt (Wood End) Scout Group as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
