MICHAEL AND LESLEY BENNE￿ CHARrrABLE TRU Report of the Trustees FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2024 The trustees present their report wtth the financial ststements of the charity for the year ended 5 April 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and ReFQrting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Finanoal Reporknng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019). OBJECTIVES AND AcfIviTIES Objertives and aims The trust was established to make grants for charitable purposes in any part of the wodd as the trustees shall think fit at their discretion. The trustees have p)wer to pay or apply the whole or any part of the income or capital of the trust fund to any purwse body organisation(s) or object(s) which under the law of England shall be recognised as exclusively charitable. Public benefit In applying such income and capitsl, the tnjstees are supportive of such charitable causes that are for public benefit. Each year the trustees review their objectives to ensure their aims are met. In carrying out this review, the trustees have considered the Charity Commissioners, general guidan￿ on public benefit. Grantmaking The trustees receive applications for grants and consider each one of the applications at their meetings. The tru5tees' general policy is to aim to distribute each year the income as it arises but from time to time they may also distribute capitsl. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities During the year the trustees have made donations amounting to £27,625 (2023: £44,170). FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial posttion The net movement in funds for the year amounted to a surplus of £28,481 (2023: £748 deficit). Investment policy and objectives The trustees have very wide ￿)werS of investment and have appointed London & Capitsl Pic as their investment managers. London & Capital PIC manage the investments on a di￿retIonary basis. The major part of the income of the charity is derived from its investments. The investment managers, obiecttve 15 to maximise total retum wth due regard to risk. The trustees regularly ￿￿eW w￿h the investsnent managers the income requirement and capital base. Reserves policy The Charity's powers to invest its fund5 are set out in the Charitvs goveming instrument. Any monies not immediately required for the furtherance of the Charity's objects may invested at the discretion of the Trustees. There are no restrictions on the Trustees, wwer to invest funds. The Charity is not a functional Charity having operati)nal staff and fixed overheads therefore the Trustees consider that it is not necessary to set a reserves policy. After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonab]e eXp￿ctation that the Charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this rea￿n they continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements. Further details regarding the adopb.on of the going concern basis can be found in the Accounting Pollcies. FUTURE PLANS The TruSt￿S intend to continue their policy of making grants to the charitable purwses which fall within the objects of the Charity. Page I
