Charitable Objectives

The Rotary Club of Tettenhall raises funds to support deserving causes locally, nationally and internationally.

Review of activities and achievements

The Fund continues to receive funds by way of donations, collections and fund-raising activities including occasional donations,

In the Rotary Year 2024-2025a significant fund of donations were collected from an increased variety of fund-raising activity. These included, but not limited to, the longstanding annua! Christmas sleigh that visits local housing estates, supermarket collections and public events such as ‘the turning on of the lights’ in Wolverhampton City Centre, Bantock Park and Tettenhall village which are well received by local people and raises the profile of Rotary locally.

Increasing the membership continues to be a clear focus for the club and it is pleasing to note a steady increase in new members showing interest and joining during the past year. All members, new and established, build upon the excellent work of founding members and others who have joined since the foundation in the early 1980's. The club very much looks forward to welcoming Ms. Mandy Morris as incoming President for 2025/26, the first female President of The Rotary Club of Tettenhall.

The Club has continued to take a leading role in the highly valued ‘Young Citizen of the Year’ (YCotY) competition in Wolverhampton. It has been chaired by the club for 10 years since its inception and celebrates children and young people's charitable contributions to their local area in the City of Wolverhampton.

Trustees’ Report

for the year ended 30 June 2025 (continued)

A range of new opportunities were explored in the year which diversified the donations from attending the Wolverhampton Racecourse, street collections prior to home fixtures of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, the West Park Vaisakhi Mela celebrations, fireworks, the Tettenhall village food fayres and the International Darts competition at a local sports centre.

Funds collected during the year were £32,410 and more than 35 local charities and good causes benefited from donations for their charitable activities which cover welfare, food banks, MS centre, Ukraine society, educational! dictionaries for schools, hearing dogs for the deaf, Compton Care and Acorns hospices and a variety of community-based projects within the city.

The proceeds from the previous years ‘Golf Day’ were paid to a children’s charity in India and for humanitarian supplies to Ukraine.

A ‘Lend with Care’ enterprise continues to distribute micro-finance to communities and entrepreneurs all over the ‘developing world’ where a smal! injection of cash has a significant positive effect directly in the communities. Reports of the impact of these international investments are available to all members through the website. These monies are repaid on very low rates and the monies reinvested to new organisations.

The Rotary Club of Tettenhall continues to develop, broaden interest areas and support local and international charitable causes. Work in the community to celebrate voluntary service remains high profile within membership especially around food poverty, education and sustainable development.
