Chair’s Report 2026
Welcome to Westbere Preschool AGM 2026
This is the Chair’s report for the financial year ending August 2025, which should be read in conjunction with the Annual Accounts for the same period.
As per the Chair’s Report in 2025, the economic climate remains challenging, however the preschool continues to make solid progress with a reduced number of hours and just two members of staff on the payroll. We would like to thank our friends on the Westbere Village Hall Committee for their ongoing support regarding rental payments.
Our Auditor, Mr Todd, confirms a profit of £4,546.97 for the relevant ‘24-‘25 period, a significant increase on the previous year (£1,529.39) The preschool remains financially viable and has been certified as such by Mr Todd. The creation of a reserve fund will be considered in accordance with our Constitution.
The management and board of trustees continued to work to support and promote the work of the preschool by the following interventions:

Continuing to move towards a financial position where a reserve can be created. Thank you to Jackie for all her hard work and excellent suggestions regarding the commercial aspects of the Preschool business.

The Lottery money has been spent on improving the outside of the Preschool play area. Thank you to Emma, Glen, Jackie, John and Janet for all their hard work in creating an exciting new space for the children to enjoy.

The website has been further developed with the appointment of a designated committee member to focus on updates and accuracy. Thank you to Is for undertaking this role.

Several family events have been laid on and were well attended throughout the year.

Our committee meetings have now been moved to bi-monthly in view of The Preschool’s relative financial stability.
Thank you to Emma and Janet as always, for all their hard work throughout the year. We look forward to continuing with the task of promoting this excellent preschool and supporting its hardworking staff and pupils during 2026-27.
