## **Report for the year ended 30th June 2025**

## **THE AIM**

The Aenon Trust was set up in 1994/95. The aim of the charity is to pay or apply the capital and income of the Trust Fund to such Charities and/or to such charitable purposes and in such proportion and in such manner and subject to such terms and conditions as the Trustees may determine.

## **THE FINANCE**

In consideration of the payment of monies, the Trustees continue to be guided in general, though not exclusively, by the following principles, which were inherent in the original drafting of the Aenon Trust:

1. The advancement of the Christian faith through the preaching and proclamation of the Christian gospel and teaching of Christian doctrine and principles and the pastoral care of Christian people;

2. The relief of persons who are in need, hardship or distress or who are aged or sick;

3. To further the education (and social and physical training) of children at establishments where instruction in accordance with the principles of the Christian faith is given.

## **THE OPERATION**

The Trustees provide for public benefit and, in particular, continued to work in partnership with and to promote the work of Testimony Faith Homes, founded in 1968, a Kenyan Trust in Eldoret. This provides homes and supports at present about 130 orphans, and provides schooling right through to secondary level. Support is then given to those going on into further education. The Aenon Trust is effectively the UK base for Testimony, (which has no other particular regular means of support), not only by giving but by managing funds received in the UK and to ensure those donations are safely transferred to Testimony Faith Homes through banking services, and are fully accounted for. Gift Aid arrangements continue. All moneys received in the year designated for TFH were paid in full during the year, the Trust itself bearing the UK cost of administration as part of our commitment to the partnership.

The partnership with the Neema Children’s Home in Eldoret continued. This independent work provides home, care and schooling for over 50 HIV/Aids affected young children. Our business relationship is along the same lines as that outlined for TFH in the foregoing paragraph.

The partnership with the Riziki Children’s Organisation near Nakuru continued. This is a home for about 24 orphans, in the first place for those rescued from life on the local rubbish dump, providing them with home, food and schooling. Gifts were received to cover the cost of education of the children, including some now in tertiary education, and for the support of Riziki Home. Some funds tend to be carried through from one year to the next. We consult now with a small committee here in UK who in turn liaise with the Director of Riziki, monitoring how matters are faring with the organisation.

The Trustees have similarly been able to continue to facilitate funding for other designees in need, mainly overseas, including other places in Kenya, in Armenia, and Manipur, India, all of which the Trustees are familiar.

## **RISK ASSESSMENT**

There are no major risks at this time. Accountability is a high priority. The Trustees continue to keep close touch with all projects the Trust is linked with, not only to ensure good governance but also to be in a position to help and to advise on matters. Each of the three homes confirmed in the year that they each have safeguarding policies.

## **GENERAL**

The financial transactions are fully detailed on pages 4 and 5 of this report. There are no assets, property or equipment owned by the Aenon Trust. There is no necessity for a reserves policy; all moneys are potentially for disbursement, with no overheads. Current assets are invested in a Christian/ethical account.

Signed by the Secretary of the Trust .................................... Allan E. Nicholls.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF AENON TRUST**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Aenon Trust for the year ended 30th June 2025.

## **Responsibilities and Basis of Report**

As the charity trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given as to whether or not the accounts show a ‘true and fair’ view. The report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Independent Examiner 31 Princes Road, DARTFORD, Kent. DA1 3HJ.
