## **Report for the year ended 30th June 2021**

## **THE AIM**

The Aenon Trust was set up in 1994/95. The aim of the charity is to pay or apply the capital and income of the Trust Fund to such Charities and/or to such charitable purposes and in such proportion and in such manner and subject to such terms and conditions as the Trustees may determine.

## **THE FINANCE**

In consideration of the payment of monies, the Trustees continue to be guided in general, though not exclusively, by the following principles, which were inherent in the original drafting of the Aenon Trust:

1. The advancement of the Christian faith through the preaching and proclamation of the Christian gospel and teaching of Christian doctrine and principles and the pastoral care of Christian people;

2. The relief of persons who are in need, hardship or distress or who are aged or sick;

3. To further the education (and social and physical training) of children at establishments where instruction in accordance with the principles of the Christian faith is given.

## **THE OPERATION**

The Trustees provide for public benefit and, in particular, continued to work in partnership with and to promote the work of Testimony Faith Homes, founded in 1968, a Kenyan Trust in Eldoret. This provides homes and supports at present about 130 orphans, and provides schooling right through to secondary level. Support is then given to those going on into further education. The Aenon Trust is effectively the UK base for Testimony, (which has no other particular regular means of support), not only by giving but by managing funds received in the UK and to ensure those donations are safely transferred to Testimony Faith Homes through banking services, and are fully accounted for. Gift Aid arrangements continued. Almost all moneys received in the year designated for TFH were paid in full during the year, the Trust itself bearing the UK cost of administration as part of our commitment to the partnership.

The partnership with the Neema Children’s Home in Eldoret continued. This independent work provides home, care and schooling for over 50 HIV/Aids affected young children. The new school block functioned through the year, although interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic. Our business relationship is along the same lines as that outlined for TFH in the foregoing paragraph.

The partnership with the Riziki Children’s Organisation has continued, and funds are accumulated to develop the site near to Nakuru for about 24 orphans, originally those rescued from life on the local rubbish dump, to provide them with home, food and schooling. Gifts were received to cover the cost of education of the children, for other specific needs in the continued expansion of the farming side to help Riziki develop more self supporting. Some funds tend to be carried through from one year to the next

The Trustees have similarly been able to continue to facilitate funding for other designees in need, mainly overseas, including other places in Kenya and in Armenia, all of which the Trustees are familiar.

## **RISK ASSESSMENT**

There are no major risks at this time. Accountability is a high priority. The Covid 19 pandemic, which first struck in March 2020, has continued since, and through this year. It has had little effect so far on our funding. During the periods of severe restriction of our local banking facilities, we took steps to ensure that all funds, as they are essential, did get through to the recipients. The Trustees continue to keep close touch with all projects the Trust is linked with, not only to ensure good governance but also to be in a position to help and to advise on matters. The pandemic continues to affect everywhere in the world, but the work of the homes had to, and does, continue. .

## GENERAL

The financial transactions are fully detailed on pages 4 and 5 of this report. There are no assets, property or equipment owned by the Aenon Trust. There is no necessity for a reserves policy; all moneys are potentially for disbursement, with no overheads. Current assets are invested in a Christian/ethical account.

Signed by the Secretary of the Trust ....A.E.Nicholls..................... Allan E. Nicholls.
