The Winchester Round Table Charitable Trust Fund is governed by the trustees to raise funds from local charitable fund-raising activities, to carry out community service projects and to donate any funds raised to local charitable causes in Winchester and the surrounding communities. The Charity is linked to the Round Table organisation, a non-political, non-sectarian association open to men between the ages of 18 and 45 from any profession or trade.

The objects of the association are the encouragement of high ethical standards in commercial life, the promotion of fellowship amongst young professionals and businessmen, and to empower each individual to make a positive impact at home, at work and in his community. The Aims & Objects of the organisation are as follows;

  1. To develop the acquaintance of young men through the medium of their various occupations.

Financial Review

The trustees of the Charity have requested that the Charity holds approximately £35,000 in cash reserves to cover the risks of running the annual Winchester bonfire and fireworks event and ensures that the charity continues to be a going concern. The Charity raises the majority of its funds in November and December and holds reserves to donate throughout the year.

The Covid-19 pandemic did affect the income of the Charity in 2020 as it had to amend its main Bonfire and Fireworks fund-raising event due to social distancing requirements.

The charity managed to run both Fireworks and Santa Sleigh events for the community of Winchester and the donations and sponsorship from the community generated a profit from these events that has allowed the Charity to put on much-loved events in the community but also to continue their donations to those in need in the local community.

In addition, the Charity used their resources to collect surplus food from the community during the Covid-19 pandemic to support the local food banks.

The charity has maintained sufficient financial reserves to remain a going concern and remains actively involved in supporting the local community now with proven success that a socially distanced fireworks event for the Community is both financially viable and worthwhile for the charity.
