~~Background and Introduction~~
The Trust and Relationship with the school
The Friends of Hatherop Church of England Primary School was established over 20 years ago to support the Hatherop Church of England Primary School with buildings improvements and to fund activitiesfor the pupils.
The Primary School the Trust supports is a small village primary school near Cirencester, Gloucestershire, providing primary education for approximately 85 pupils and is a Gloucestershire County Council School.
Trust History
Over time the funds have developed through Parent Teacher Association fundraising, individual donations and interest.
In 2005 initial plans were made for school buildings improvements, however the plans did not proceed. In 2022, following consultation with staff, governors, and parents the school buildings were seen as a key priority for improvement.
Subsequently a group of governors and teachers was formed to look into options for building improvements. A survey was Carried out by architecture firm Thinking Buildings in 2022, subsequently it was agreed that planning permission would be sought.
Building Plans
In 2023 Thinking Buildings produced the plans to go forward for planning permission to Cotswold District Council.
The pre ~~-~~ planning and planning efforts were funded by the Trust (The Friends of Hatherop Church of England Primary School)
The plans were approved in early 2024, which then led to plans to fundraise to fund the building work. To make the plans manageable, the team divided the buildings work into 3 phases.
Rural Elm was appointed as the Architectural firmto draw up plans for building quotes. A tender process was completed, and a building contractor ‘Austen Dawson’ was selected to perform the work.
It was decided that The Friends of Hatherop Church of England Primary School would be vehicle for receipts of funds for the buildings project, hence the significantly higher level of income in 2024/2025 compared to previous years
~~Organization and Structure~~
The Trust has five members formed of past and present governors of the school.
In a Full Governors meeting (10 July 2024) it was decided that the School Trust should be represented with more current Governors.

~~Financial Summary~~
£108,026.58 was carried over from 2024, this was mainly invested in 4 funds with CCLA. £14,909.88 had been allocated to the schoolin 2023/24 for pre ~~-~~ planning and planning activities with architect firm Thinking Buildings.
Fundraising started actively in April 2024 with income coming from the following sources

As well as a sponsored run, plant sales, 300 club event, Growa fiver initiative etc
Expenditure of £10,189.67 was used for Architectural support for building plans. Rural Elm architects were appointed to perform the work.

The Assets were primarily invested in 4 funds managed by CCLA. Overall, these performed well during the year, however with tariff discussions and economic instability in early 2025 and the need to have funds available for the buildings project in Summer 2025, the Trust agreed to exit the funds and place in the Deposit Fund, which is more accessible. The property fund remains in place as there is a 6 month exit on this fund.

The phase 1 & 2 buildings work was priced at c. £300,000, therefore all cash raised will be used to fund this project in Summer 2025. Afresh look at phase 3 fundraising will be undertaken in late 2025.
