CCS, present and firture vision is to continue supporting those experiencing mental health is8ues, those in
isolation. and those tho suffar the pandemic's impact on their present and future Ilfe. Breaking the stlgma on
mental h•alth is paramount. A special thank you goes to our (Jedicatod team that work3 hard to reach our

Th• Children's Ministri08 08partm•nt (CMD)
The department remained busy dgspilt the lockdown. Mindful of the n88d lo provlde activities for chlldren
tha department embarked on producing a numb8r ol virtual events. Examples includ8, the Easter 810ry.
8nd the summer annual flagship- Vacation Bible School IVBSI week -long programme that has a unique
approach lo children's mlnigty. The latter reinforces spiritual growth and encourages long-tem leaming.
This event appealed lo children and lamilie5 from multiple lallhs evidenced from the partlcipalion ol over
600 childffjn.
The CMD Bcknowledged a number of spirllual 8mphas15 days, In the autumn of 2020. World
Orphanslvulnerable Children's day was observed. Children's awareness ol what rt means lo be orphaned
was heightened, as the CMD explored the global caus8s that leave mllllons of children alone, Iso18ted and
vulnerable. Such a$ war, poverty and Gllmate change, lo d88p&n their und8rstandSng of this complex issue.

The CMD celebrated 25 years of Children's Ministry with 9 8hort film producllon about the kn￿rk of Advenlisl

death and resurrection. Thls inleracllve ev&nl onabled m8ny chlldren across the SEC lo showcase Ihelr
muslcal, oratory, poollc and lttespian Skllls. Over SOO tuned In to watch on Chrlslmas day.
Community, Pr180n and Dlversity Minlstrles department
2020 was an unpr8cedent8d lime for the Community. Prison and Diversity Minlslries departm8nl.
Al th8 beginnlng ol the yeor we visited our church8s 8cross the South of Eng18nd including Milton Keyn68,
Gloucester, Plyrnoulh. Soulhamplon, Vveston Supermare and Brixlon.
As we a8sess8d lh8 financial impact ol COWD on our operallons wè undortook 8 fundr8I81ng drlve lo
suppl&m8nl costs for our Homeless 8heller. However, because of th8 Sgoond wave we had to postpone
those aclivili8s olso.
Additionally we launched 8 Social medla drfve lo raisè awareness of the work neoded for Prison mlnlslrl8s.
This is with the hope lo build a r8leased prisoner support ne￿ork. Finally In the wake of the Georg8 Floyd
tragedy, the diversity department has bgen Involved in an internal process lo look al the Impact of racism,
prejudice and dlscrfminalion with the vl8w of making11 betlgr for our churche5 and those in the church8S
r8spectfvg ¢ommunities. Thls is stlll ongoing.

During the year we have been hdding Zc¥)m virtual meetings every Monday evening for Men dealing with
subjects on Mental Health. Exorcise, Cooking, Domestic Violence It)ward5 Men, b8ing accouniable,
mentorship elc.
Th8 rea50n vthy we held thesa meellngs was because sincg we were in lockdown, we thought that Men
needed some kind of comfort, gel them talking. not being alone. We wanted to create a safe ploce I space
so they can talk and be comfortable in an envlronmenl vthere trust 18 around them.
We a180 had a men'5 dayon 2151 November 2020. and thè theme was 'What's your Story,. The Klea
behlnd th15 was lo share Ihelr story on the difficult limes they have had gone through and how Ihey
overcome it. This wll be able lo help Men in and outside th8 church that are tuning in. they can overcam8
any $iluoUon they are in by just reaching out, talking, saying something.
Pathfinders and Adventurer8
The buzz words for 2020 when il came lo PalhfSnder$ and Advgnlurers was 'Virtual' and 'Re8ilien¢e'.
though we could not gel together physically and have evenl8 an¢J programmes in and lor our
communilias. Palhfinder5 and Adventurers was r8sI1i8nl by offering online cont8nl. Th15 conlenl was
sh8red by Palhflndery and Adventurers by Snviling friends to logSn, link In and engage wlth Ihe content.
a result of th8 Vlrtual opwrtunitie8, we Grealed a few'fi'rslg, for Pathfinders in the UK. The first onllne
content offering Pathfinder Honours from home, the first E-camporee, and the first conlerence-wida
currlculum camp.
Palhfind&rs 8n¢J Adventurers also look the ch811enoe lo enrich Ih8ir communille8, 8.9. 5km Sponsored
bike ride to raise money for ADRA UK., volunleerlng al Wattord'¥ One Vision project,. and Dggenham
Eagles launchlng an onllne activities hub called 'One Borough One Love Adventurer Hub,.
Personal Mlnistry

valuable and avgilable lo Ihelr comrnunllle8. Uslng zoom 8nd other dlgllal platforms members were Ifained
on Inlercessory prayer for their communlties and provlded with inlormalion. m818rial and moral 5UPPQrt
especlally 88 People suffered lh8 dllferenl effect of COVID-19. Through the SEC School ol Mission 8nd
Leadershlp memb8rs tr8lned as community chaplains, conlllcl resolution and active listening. Some
workgd alongslde street pastors helplng tha homeless and meeting othgr immgdi8te and long-term needs.
Due lo th8 lockdown, churches were nol able lo offar thgSr spaces and Ihelr regular programs to the
communlly In the s8me way. Many used their space lor food b8nks and lo offer takeaway meals and
groc8ri8s. Members P8rticipal8d in dgllverlng needed help lo th8 n￿dY nelghbour8.
Property Management
In 2020 the department saw the ￿mpletson of Clapton church'¥ Tgnovats'on prq'ect that wa8 signed off in
March. Clapton now has br¥nd new WC facilrtigs to the rear that 8180 include an accessible WC. The La81
snag list for Ihe project wtll be completed in Aprll 2021.
Hay's Wood Retreat, formerly North Runclon, (the SEC'818rge81 bullding wolecl ever urKI?rtakenl had its
practical cornplelion on 31st December 2020. The next phase of the project will be lo furnish the 5118 in
preparatlon lor ils use.
Although the number of building project8, acouislllons and disposols was limtted In 2020, we dld suppt)rt
several congregations in their search for new premlses such as Palmers Green. Bamèt, Holcomb Road,
Lae Vall8y, Brighlon and Hastlngs.
The department is also still working wlh Galwick on a major project where we arg working wlth several
national bodK8S leg Historic England, Common Wealth War Graves Commisslonl and local authority over
the long lenn use and presarvalion of the property in which GahM¢k SDA are currenlly worshipping.
Chapel Porth Camp site also continues lo be re-developed and In 2020 the departmanl was able lo
showcase a numbgr of new caravans. Tho plan movln9 forward is lo C(￿tin￿8 to upgr8de the stte and
improvg its facilities for our conslituenls.

Prayer Ministries Department
2020 dawned with mud) promise and possibilily. Al the annual Expo, Tha Prayer Mlnistry Department
Coordinator Linda Nyamhunga presented th8 vision of the Prayer Ministri8s department and invited the
members in allendance at the plenary session lo brainstorm for the year, The following ware the planned

The theme was And My House shall be called a House of Prayer for all People" bearing in mind that

The firbl ev8nl of tho y•8r on the & 16 January 2020 was the General Conference womowde 'Ten Days of
prayer. which was eagerty hosted in many churcheB acr085 the SEC. The len day8 of prayer Gulminaled in
a hall night on 18 January 2020 01 pr3yer al Holcomb8 Road Church and wa5 allendad by over 150
people. Th8 half nlght W8s characlerised by baauliful muslc by Tollenharn Holcombe Road Slnging group,
faith inspirlng leslimonles and a rouslng call to preachln9 Of the Word. A special all night prayer
programme was hosted by Slanborough Secondary School Porgnis Teacher8 Association Praying for
students and all young peopl8 Bnd Ihelr parents on 22 February 2020. Al80, we had a day of pr8yer for
London Minislers on and a d8y of prayer for the SEC s18ff8 wher8 the office wos closed and the staffs
were gn¢oura9ed lo pray together, whlch was a wonderful eXper￿nCe ond broughl workers togelhgr this
was held al Walford Town Church ￿ 5 February 2020.
In February 2020, SEC Prayer Ministries collaborated wth Pla18tow Prayer Tower for an All night prayer
meeting., Show￿$e￿ al Plaislow Church. People from 811 parts of the conference In need of prayer joined
the sasslon. The SEC prayer Ilne which has been rSnglng al 6am 8v8ry momlng r8In, 8n¢)w or shina since
2015 conllnued lo bg a balm of healing and a sale retr881 for troubled souls. The number of 8118ndees has
increased from less than len Indlviduals Sn the p88110 80-100 slnce March 2020. The prayer lin8 has
wltnessgd non-Adven115ts loining and becomlng regular callers. The maln focus of the SEC proyor Ilne is
dlscipleship, nurturlng. mgnlorlng and Irainlng membars 8nd young people in leading oul and preaching
during servlces in Iheir home8, local churches, Bnd 81 prayer meetings. One of the success stories has
boen the tralnlno and equipping of new Prayer Leaders for local churches. The prayer team oftgn follow up
on prayer requests and mako p8rsonBI follow ups and conl8Ct pelllioners. What a way lo ovangelise
through prayer. We have had contacts with Individuals who 8re faced with 5erbus health issues and held
anointing services Vlrtually. Another 8r8a we have been stretched lo the lullosl is supporting bereaved
members. 11 is Impressiv8 to experlence the unity and commonality among membgrs. tho joy of c8rrying
each other burdens. Many of our membgrs see the daily opening gf Ihg prayer line as a place wh8r8
burd8ns 8re lifted and a r8fug8 in lime of storm. Sharing loslimonies daily on the prayer line have brought
hope and encour8gemonl lo many amidst the dlfficull Ilmes we are facing. Som8 have leslified that the
SEC pray8r mlnlstry Is like family lo Ihgm, they have a Flace to wake up lo.
When the Governmanl announced a national lockdown in March 2020, Ihorg was a mindset shift from
physlcal meetings lo online platforms. This affected many pe¢wle who were not technically savvy and yet
many bravely venturgd in the world of onlina meellngs.

Many churches and church groups bagan holtjing prayer meetings on virtual platforms. Many new prayer
groups around the SEC wer8 crgalod in response lo this new challeng&. Even r8lre818 were held virtually.
Prayer Ministries participated as House of Prayer on 14 - 20th June 2020 in the SEC camp meeting by
hosting Prayer, Praise and TeslSmoni88 lime from 7am to 8..30 am every moming. The virtual Prayer
Retreat wa8 held on 31 sl July- 2nd August 2020. The theme w88 the assurance that"God comfotts Hi8
people in crisis" Our focused areas w8 mlnistored were.. Pr8y8T 8nd grief, Prayer 8nd fe8r and Prayer
and insecurlly. We worked alongsldo the Cornerston8 Counselling dapartm8nl, jdning hands Wtth Prayer
Ministries to support those struggling. We had 8 session on Mental health called"Hope Beyond grier,
nlcely presented by Elvls and Ruth from Elpizo Counsg11in9 and 188rn. Prayers and pasloral care have
continu8d Ihrough the difforenl prayor lin95, days ol prayer and monthly day of lasling 8nd prayer are
bolng organlsed lo support each olhor, these h8ve been the source of strength for SEC Prayer Ministry.
Teens Ministry
In 2020, Ihe SEC Teens Department adapted its appro8ch and the conlenl of Ils programmes due to the
COVID-19 pandemic and the emolional Impact il had arnong the teenage population. Consequently,
throughout the year, our programmes, weekly workshops and semlnars h8d a strong emphasis on loplcs
8ueh as stress managernenl, how lo deal with anxi8ty. how lo deal with worry, grief, healthy ealing habllg,
sleep deprivation. exercise, healthy eating habils. coping mechanism. healthy pastimes. sludy habll5,
holplng al hom6. rest and sleep, lim8 m8n8gemenl and networking, among others.
We also started a weekly programme that Ss streamed on YouTube and Facebook slmulloneously. In Ihls
programme, we had speclal guests such as m8dlcal doctor8, teachers and counsgllors who 8poka about
thomes slmll8r lo the on8$ $9gn above. As we celebrated our programmes vlrtually In 2020, we Inlarocled
wllh the teens and Iholr famllSes using th8 online chal facllltlas throughout the prograrnmes. However. we
also inl8ractod wllh the teens dally using our Instagram p8ge, Facebook page. webpogg, emall, and the
WhalsApp group8.

To educate and empower women with matters ralallng lo domestic abuse.
Sadly, nalionwde there was an increase in Dom8stic Violence during this Pandemic,. we aimed to
sAleguard those vulnerable lo such abuses through informab'on and education.
We managed to hold most of Ihe progr8mmes above on tha Zoom forum due lo the pfevalenca of
COVID-19. which meant wom8n could not meet as initially planngd.
Youth Mlnistries
Youth Minlslries has continued to remain committed to speclalisl training and empowerment for youth
a¢Jers and their teBms whllsl creating opportunrties and spaces for youth to personally 8XP8ri8nce the
reality of God. In January we hosted our Youth Lead&rship Conference whlch cat8rèd for 102 youth
leaders across the South of England., they wer8 inspired lo rebuild the walls on their spiritual and
personal grovAh as they continue lo empower their young people. As a result ol the confer9n¢e, wo
recruited over 40 lead8rs who joined the Senior Youth Leadership Award prc¥3ram.
In the mldsl of pl8nnSng for our annual Global YcMJlh Day and Community Blwd drive we were haltad in
r tracks ¥￿th the roalisalion of how badly Covid was offecling life 88 we know it. All physic818venls
had lo be cgnc8lled and as Covid began lo spr88d across the UK we wer8 token Into 3 nalK)rwide
lockdown. Desplle Ihls perCe￿ed sglback Il In f8¢1 allowed for mor& innovation and opportunities to
reach our youth differanlly allowlng for our dlgilal and wcial medla pl8tfoms lo take centre si899.
We held panel talks via Zoom and Stream Yard ranging from lopics on race, relationshlps, cuf￿nI
evenls and spiritU8111y. Inslagram and Facabook pages would host live ¢hals Includlng ex8rcI8e se￿1￿3
Irom trBin8d professionals and molivalSonal videos. We collaborat9d ¥￿th Community Mlnlslrles and
planned the virtual P300 run it, bike il and walk il challenge, helping lo ralse over £6000 for the
horneless for Christmas. We had ovèr SO youih who partlclpaled In Ihls flrsl.1Smo virtual in111811ve. In
addilion, w8 s81 up an online store s8lling youth minlslries merchandlso and created 8P8ce3 on our
social media platforms lor olh9r local church youth groups lo share Ihelr varlous youth minlslrles.
Overall, our youth gngagem8nls and followors saw a slgnificanl Increase as we navigated the88 slraNJ8
Ilmes wth relevant, on demand programs. Th8 n6w Senlor Youth Leadership Award transferred onlln8
lo ensure training and development was not alfecled.
Financlal review
Without our committed staff and faithful church members, the succ8ss achleved duilno ihls
extraordinary year would not have been posslble. Strong leadership was provld8d by our 207
employees and hund￿d$ of volunteers in Ioc81 churches. Pivotal lo th8 work of th8 charity during the
year was the flnancial support ol our member8hip. vkno gave a total of over £14.6m in lilhès and freewll
offering5 and donations lo support the work. Th8s8 lunds v48re used lor staff sal8rSes, evangelistic
8ndaavours, humanitarian work. 8ducallon, retirem8nl beneflls and the general gov6mance and
admlnislralive operations of Ihe South England Conferanc8.
The Trustees consder that there is a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate resourcès lo
continu8 in operational existence lor th9 foreseeable lulur8 and for this reason, the Trustees continue lo
adopt the 'going concern, basis in preparing the accounts.
