Cliairman's Report 2024
Kiddicwink.s Preschool
by Kirsty Power
Kiddiewinks is run by a wondcrful, dLdiLaled £Joup of"staff who are
committed to ensuring the Prcschool stays open and the children have the
be.st experiLnce. Then WL also havc a commiltLc, which is made up of
parents and former parents and is needed in ordcr to keep the preschool
open. The committee cmploy the stalTand makL dccisions about the
preschool, aftLr talking with the SLqfT, in ordLr lo ensure money is spent
wisLly and the preschool is run to the besl of its ability. "fhis year we
continue to watch every penny that is spent and the slaff generously buy
snacks out of thcir own Inoncy to kLep costs down. Some parents also
kindly ofTer donalions, which helps a great deal. 'fhc ever-incrLasing
minimum wage puts a strain on the finances and the government doesn't
pay a fair rate for the funded children, so thal makes it hard. The majority
of our childrLn are fuiidLd so we don't receive any other money and this
means WL have lo be very careful with money. We are grateful that you, as
parents, choose to place your children in our care and their attendance
keeps us open. This year the staff, as usual. have been loyal and dedicated.
They have rallied around to help Angle with her ongoing cancer treatment,
supported Helen through her two knee replacements and welcomed
Scarlett into the team. They are all a credit to Kiddiewinks and help lo
create Ihe warm, nuturing environment your children need. We also had
the help of two students throughout the year, Abby and Tom, which the
children loved and their hclp is invaluable.
The committee really needs a couple of parents onboard. If you feel you
are happy to put your name forward please speak to Heather or Lisa.

Kiddiewinks Preschool
Staff report 2024 by Heather Sparks
We have a dedicated team of staff who care deeply for the
children, parents and the preschool. Lisa, our deputy, Helen the
SENCO and Angie. They go above and beyond what is classed as
work and it makes our setting a great place to be. We were joined
by Scarlett at the beginning of the year, a former Mum, who has
settled in brilliantly. We are helped in our work by students, and
this year we had one studying a level 2 qualification and one
studying for a level 3. we also had a couple of year 10 school
students doing work experience with us. Many of our students are
former pupils of ours so its lovely that they had such a great
experience that they want to return. The staff have helped to
support each other this year as Helen undertook double knee
surgery, Angie continued her chemotherapy treatment and others
dealt with family issues and moving house.
We select various topics for the children to enjoy: based on their
interests or what we feel would help and benefit them. We are
always helping them to learn social and life skills that help them
at home and when they go to school. We see a big difference in
the children from when they first attend to a few months on and
when they leave. Its good that they become happy, independent
children that listen and understand rules. We have also provided
help and support for our parents on many issues and will always
continue to be here for you all.
Our preschool is run by a committee and we, as staff, are
incredibly grateful to the members, especially Jemma Jessep, for
taking on these roles and supporting us. We always need new
members so please talk to one of us if you feel able to join the
committee.

Treasurer's Report 2024
Income £93.724.11 Expenditure £73,228.07
£20,496.04 in profit
This year has seen a great turnaround in our prof it which will help us during the
quiet periods, and help to ensure sustainability. As local settings have closed its
meant we are getting a full amount of children in from September, when that
would normally be a quiet term. This has meant a bigger amount of funding money,
which along Wlth the staff 's amazing efforts at saving money by buying snack out
of their own pocket, has helped create a healthy prof it. We received some
funding from the co-op , which was great and have used students to boost the
workforce. They help us enormously and also learn their future skills on the job.
Some payouts in our expenditure are hard to change. The rent rose in
September for the f irst time in a while, plus the continual rise in the minimum
wage means wages are always being pushed upwards. We try not to purchase
unneccesary resources and make use of donated items and sales.
With childcare settings facing uncertain futures. as schools start up their own
nurseries, we will continue to watch our spending and hopefully ensure we have a
pot available to help, should numbers drop. If parents would like to donate any
snack or cleaning items like wet wipes. these will be gratefully received.
