STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The objectives of the trust are to advance the Christian faith amongst children and young people in educational establishments and the charity continues to support part-time schools workers who are actively promoting the Christian faith in schools in the Doncaster area. This work has continued to be done during the past year. Whilst considering appropriate activities for the charity the trustees confirm that they have complied with the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The relationships with schools, built up over many years have all been maintained, and new schools have welcomed input. As schools began to welcome staff and volunteers back into the classroom new ways of teaching have been developed and it is envisaged that these new teaching methods will form the basis of our work going forward to meet the challenges facing students at this time.
FINANCE
The income of the charity was approximately £88,000, (2022 £37000). Total cash balances were £56325, (2022. £11215) with tax refunds due of approx £5500 (2022 £6000) which gives total funds of approx £61825 (2022 £17215)
The policy on reserves is to hold 3 months expenditure which is approximately £12,000, and this is considered sufficient. The trustees aim to keep the reserves in excess of the minimum requirements over the forthcoming year, this aim has been achieved in the current year due to the receipt of a legacy which will secure funding for the immediate future.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Doncaster Schools Worker Trust
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 March 2023, as set out on page 3.
Respective responsibility of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act;
-
follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. David Faulkner
