In order to acimeve these aims, the soaety kept In mjnd the Chanty Cornmisswi's guidance on public benefit
at all Trustee (Counal) Meet1r￿S.
The Trustees (Council), together with a subcommittee compnsed of approximately 12 other members of th•
)ciety work together to oroanise and promote a programme of contsnuing education symposia (CES) and
other events which are open to members of the society as well as non-membets Induding studentslregdents
and those at the stsrt of their pathology career. These symposia also provide an opportunity lor toxicological
and diKovery pathologists (and other soentists working with animal models), clinical pathologists and
t0￿ColOgiSts, as well a5 non-dinical regulatory saentssts to learn about recent saentrfic advances and
enhance their continuing prOfe￿Onal development.
Two CES are run each year with the 8srp prowding at each evert, at least one free place and also reduced
registration fees to Individuals worknng within an 'early career" environment, for example stipendiary
students/resear¢hers studylnglworkin9 Wlthin è relevant scientsfic fieié {e.g. PhD students), vetennary
pathology residents and professional trainee pathologists working towards a profesgonal qualiftcatson
(residents) or gaining more expenence within the field of toxicdogic41 pathology,
An Annu41 Scientrhc meebng Is also organised (sometsmes In conjunrtion with other societies or
organisations) for attendees to leam about recent saenknhc advances and enhance their contsnuing
professional development. Again. the BTh aim to provide * least one free place and additsonally reduced
registratron fees to Individuals wothng within Jn "early careerf environment at this event. The Annual
Scientific Meeting also enables Junior members of the prOfe￿an to present postern or speak about their
rnsearch In an Informal se￿n9. Other short scientific meetsngs may be oryanmd on Jn +xosional b￿$.
Addltlon•l d•t•lls of obJectlv•• and •thlll••
As part of the ￿jeCts¥e5 ststed above, the society holds meebngs and promotes saentific research and
publicabons ￿lj￿n9 to toxicologul pathology.
In addition to the Trustees. the Bsfp has an educabon Subcommittse comprising approximately 12
volunteers who. u%ng thwr expertise, enc¢urage. help. and advise those new to the profesgon to organise
events.
For all events, a volunteer Is appointed as the Soentsfic Organiser and they (with help and advi￿ from the
Trustees and Education Subc¢Jmmittee) organise the progrnmme and liaise wrth all speakers and any other
organisw5.
Without the cOntributK￿ of the volunteers, Trustees, and the education Subcommsttee, the 8Sfp would not
be able to run these events which attract people to attend not Just from the UK and Europe but also from the
USA, India, North Afnca, and Asia
Whilst the airn for all events Is to break even. any surplus funds athieved are used to offset any deficits and
enable the BSTr to provide the free Pla￿ and reduced ￿giStratIon fees at future events for those wothng
w¢thin an°early Ca￿ert environment. Additionally, the Bsfp aims to provide bursanes (on request} to help
towards the cost of registratKm and trnvel from Interested members and non-members of the 8STP.
