Future plans
During 2023 the BSTP will contlnue to organi5e educational events, so that those who have prevlously
attended have the opportunlty to complete the full cycle of symposia. These events will continue
to be held virtually (as Zoom meetings).
The 2022 Annual Sclentlfic Meetlng will be held as a face-to-face m e e tl n g and include the Annual
General Meetlng. In the event that thls meetlng Is successful, providlng there are no unforeseen
circumstances, the BSTP intends to hold future ASM/AGM meetlngs as face-to-face events. Events In
2023 include.. CES 7 on infectious diseases of laboratory anlmals (March, 2023); and CES 8 on the
nervous system and speclal senses organs (July, 2023). Plannlng for both of these symposla is already
well underway.
The BSTP would also Ilke to try and reverse the hlstorlcal trend of decllnlng membership* considered
to be largely due to an ageing workforce and fewer tralnees as well as Industry consolldatlon. To
do thls, the society hopes to reach out to those in experimental medlcine or toxlcology in order to
establish their needs and if necessary, offer them the opportunity for relevant training.
Additionally, by Increasing collaboratlon wlth other socletles for meetlngs, the BSTP wlll aim to
provide relevant education for scientist5 in other disciplines.
