In order to achieve these alm5, the soclety kept In mlnd the Charity Commlssion's guldance on public benef6t

The Trustees (Councll), together wlth 3 subcommittee comprised of 13 other members of the soclety work
together to organlse and promote a programme of continuing education symposia {CES) and other events
which are open to members of the society and also non-members Including studentslresldents and those

dlscovery pathologists land other scientists working with animal models), clinlcal pathologists and
toxicologists as well a5 non-clinical regulatory scientlsts to learn about recent sclentific advances and
enhance thelr contlnulng profe551onal development.
Two CES are run each year wlth the BSTP provldlng at each event, at least one free place and also reduced
registratlon fees to indlvlduals worklng withln an 'early career- environment, for example stipendiary
sttsdent5/researchers studylnglworklng within a relevant sclentiflc field le.g. PhD students), veterlnary

{resldent51 or gabning more experience wlthin the field of toxlcological pathology,
An Annual Sclentlfle meetlng Is also organised (sometimes In conjunctlon wlth other socletles or

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Brief statement on the charity's policy on reserves
The BSTP has a reserves pollcy in line with Charity Commission Guidelines and the current reserve fund
stands at £57,732, all of which is unrestricted funds. This fund is held to allow the Society to meet any
unforeseen expenditure that may occur. A review of the reserves policy in November 2020 by the Trustees
resulted in the view that the BSTP could stlll continue to meet its current obligations for a period of
approximately 2 years- and that, in the event that the funds fall to E30,000, immediate action will need to
be taken to avoid the posslbility of the society incurrtng further deficits. The next revlew is due before 30th
September 2023.
