**Objects:** TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN ENGLISH HISTORY THROUGH THE PROMOTION AND DISSEMINATION OF THE USEFUL RESULTS OF THE PROMOTION OF RESEARCH WRITING AND PUBLICATION OF A SCHOLARLY NATURE ON THE HISTORY OF THE COUNTIES OF ENGLAND AND IN PARTICULAR AND PRIMARILY BY SUPPORTING AND HELPING TO MAINTAIN THE WORK OF THE VICTORIA HISTORY OF THE COUNTIES OF ENGLAND AND FURTHER BY SUPPORTING THE PUBLICATION OF WORK OF AN EDUCATIONAL VALUE BY COUNTY RECORD SOCIETIES HISTORICAL SOCIETIES AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETIES AND BY GIVING SUCH ASSISTANCE TO COUNTY RECORD OFFICES AS MAY ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN ENGLISH HISTORY PROVIDED THAT IN FURTHERING SUCH OBJECTS THE TRUSTEES SHALL NOT RELIEVE ANY LOCAL AUTHORITY OR OTHER AUTHORITY OF ANY OF ITS STATUTORY OBLIGATIONS.
