## **Organisation Management**

The Trustees determine the general policy of the preschool, as follows:-

Chair – Kathy Lewis

Treasurer – Jacqui bell

The management and day to day running of the preschool is delegated to the setting manager, Claire de Ruiter, supported by staff.

## **Committee training and recruitment** :-

When recruiting new Trustees the important attribute is the passion for the work of Our Pre-school, and an understanding of education as a holistic and rounded experience of personal growth. We advertise locally, through our newsletter to parents and carers. Committee members will be elected at the AGM, not less than two weeks before the date of the next AGM at which the election of elected Committee members will take place each Member shall be sent a form which any Member wishing to stand as a candidate for election to the Committee must complete and return to the Secretary to indicate their willingness to act as a member of the Committee if elected. (As outlined in our Constitution). Once elected, training for new members is recommended.

## **Our Aims**

The aims of the Pre-school are to enhance the development and education of children primarily under statutory school age by encouraging parents to understand and provide the needs of their children through community groups and by :-

1. Offering appropriate play, education and care facilities, family learning and extended hours groups, together with the right of parents to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of such groups, ensuring that such groups offer opportunities for all children.

2. Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs in the local areas;

3. Instigating and adhering to and furthering the aims and objects of the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

## **Our Objectives**

Our Objective is to offer:

- Qualified, well-organised and supportive staff

- Free places for all 3-year-olds

- Interesting and stimulating activities

- Opportunities for active parental involvement

2

- A safe environment based on learning through play

Management of the Pre-School is the responsibility of an elected committee comprising of parents and carers who volunteer their time, experience and resources. We have informal links with Rainow Primary School and the majority of our children progress into the reception class together. Each day your child will be greeted by one of our excellent staff members and we operate a key worker system, so a single member of staff will keep a close eye on your child's development. Staff:child ratios are 1:4 for children under 3 years and 1:8 for children over 3 years.

Child Development and Curriculum

Our curriculum is based around the six early learning goals:

- Personal, social and emotional development

- Communication and language

- Literacy

- Problem solving, numeracy and reasoning

- Creative development

- Physical development

- Knowledge and understanding of the world

Throughout the year we enjoy visits from local professionals, and mark occasions and festivals from all around the world with special events, performances and projects.

## **Public Benefit Statement**

The Charity trustees have complied with their duty as officers to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the commission and in Rainow Preschool Constitution, in exercising their powers and duties.

## **Financial Review**

## **Treasurer’s Annual Report**

## Rainow Pre-school Annual Treasurer’s Report 2019-20

Overview:

Preschool made an overall deficit of £(3,305) for this financial year.

Funding from Cheshire East remained the same with no increase from at least the last 2 years.

3

## **Notable Expenditure:**

Staff wages remain our largest expenditure; there was an annual pay rise in April of 2% due to the commitment and high standards of the staff.

Rent remains a notable expenditure.

## **Fundraising and Income**

Unfortunately due to COVID no fundraising was allowed.

## **Reserves Policy**

Rainow Preschool holds a reserve account with Santander with a balance of £20,713. This will cover approximately 60% of the annual costs, and any costs relating to closure or loss of income. This is a surplus account to Preschool current account and only to be used in the need for reserves following closure or loss of income of any kind.

## **Moving forward**

As per previous years, we expect fees from Cheshire East to remain the same, so child numbers are vitally important, we have already started this new academic year off with several new faces! As of September 20 Preschool have increased fees to £13 per session. We are also hoping to invest in some new equipment for the pre-school.

Rainow Preschool Accounts are independently examined by Bennett Brooks Chartered Accountants

Jacqui Bell, Rainow Preschool Treasurer 2019 – 2020.

## **Review of Activities and Achievements**

Rainow Pre-School

## **Chairperson Report**

August 2020

Rainow Pre-School Chair Person Report August 2020

2019/20 has been another fantastic year at Rainow Pre-School, but also a challenging one. Numbers of children attending remain high, again with most days at full capacity. 14 children left the setting this year, most going on to attend the local Rainow Primary School. The setting continues to attract lots of two year olds, which means that numbers attending continue to be high for the upcoming three years.

The staff continue to work hard and provide a fantastic environment for all of the children to thrive and reach their full potential. All of the staff are very dedicated to the work they do, and get to know the children and their families well which creates a safe and happy setting for them all.

4

As I mentioned in my report last year, we had decided to scale back our fundraising efforts as we continued to struggle to get people to volunteer their time to help at fundraising events. This has been a real shame as the events raised funds for the pre-school, but were also lovely community events which helped us to build and maintain links with other people and organizations within the community. We will continue to be a part of some fundraising events such as the cake stall at the local church Christmas Fair and also the local fell race where we provide refreshments in the future.

In January 2020 Rainow Pre-School had an Ofsted inspection. All the staff, but especially Claire de Ruiter, the setting manager have worked incredibly hard to make sure that the pre-school is first and foremost a safe, happy, and nurturing environment for all of the children who attend, but also to make sure that all of the paperwork, policies and procedures, safeguarding protocols and everything else ‘behind the scenes’ are maintained and completed to a very high standard. This hard work paid off with the Pre-School receiving an ‘outstanding’ rating from the inspection. This is the third consecutive Outstanding in all areas the setting has received. This is a massive achievement.

Not long after the Ofsted inspection, in March 2020, the Covid 19 pandemic, and National lockdowns arrived. Rainow Pre-School decided to make the decision to keep the setting open to all children who were eligible to attend. This was another fantastic achievement from a very dedicated staff team. It was one of the only settings in our area that made the decision to provide this support. Support was given to families who stayed at home through online stories and phonics activities and the leavers celebration was changed to an online slideshow to include all families.

## **Future Plans**

Going forward, we hope to see Rainow Pre-School to continue the fantastic work it has been doing this year, and to continue to grow from strength to strength.
