In planning the activities of the charity the trustees have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion.

The work of the Trust throughout the year has continued to focus on church-related activities in Marlow, the surrounding district and abroad.

Achievements and Performance

Like 2020, 2021 also presented unusual challenges to our operations. With the pandemic and its related hardships, the spiritual, practical and financial support needs of those in the church and our community has remained our primary focus. The social distancing and lockdown rules have meant the implementation of new methods and tools, such as online Sunday services and small groups held via Zoom. When permitted, the accommodation at Foxes Piece School in Marlow continues to be used in serving the local community, including the running of the twins club, a Mums & Toddlers coffee morning, and craft evenings. These are in addition to its use for church meetings throughout the week.

The funding for these activities is regularly reviewed by the trustees. Our commitment to ‘integral mission’ continues, with financial support going to both individuals and projects where material and spiritual needs can be met effectively and with appropriate accountability.

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

for the year ended 31st December 2021 ( Continued)

Financial Review

The total income for the year was £38,178 and total expenditure on charitable activities amounted to £36,369.

Reserves Policy

The trustees have examined the charity’s requirements for reserves taking account of the main risks to the organisation. It has established a policy whereby the unrestricted funds not committed or invested in tangible fixed assets held by the charity should be between £10,000 and £12,000 in order to meet the short to medium term operating needs. The present level of the reserves available to the charity of £149,998 are therefore in excess of this level.
