ANNUAL REPORT AND UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31[ST] MARCH 2025

The Trustees of the Association of Friends of Shannon Court (herein after called ‘AFOSC’) present their report and accounts for the year ended 31[st] March 2025.

CONSTITUTION

The Charity was registered with the Charity Commission on 12[th] December 1994 (Register No: 10430270). On 12[th] September 2021 an amended Constitution was agreed at the AGM and later approved by the Charity Commission and the Trustees have met regularly as required. The Charity is registered with HMRC for gift aid.

OBJECTIVES

The objects of the Friends is the provision of, or assistance in the provision of facilities for, recreation or other leisure-time occupation in order to improve, in particular, the conditions of life for the Residents of the Shannon Court Home (hereinafter called the “Residents”).

PUBLIC BENEFIT

The Charity donates £600 a month for the entertainment of the Residents which includes keyboard playing, Music for Health, small animal petting, musical entertainment and singing provided by professional entertainers. The High Tea Party has become a regular event, funded by the Annual Draw and the Charity. Other entertainment events are the annual pantomime, a Ladies Night and all residents receive Christmas and Mother’s/ Father’s day presents. The Charity has provided a new coffee machine at a cost of £2,988. The Charity works closely with the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Care Company and the management team at the Home, who are invited to and attend our Management Committee meetings.

The Trustees have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Charity’s aims and objectives, and in planning future activities.

RAISING AWARENESS

AFOSC make presentations to Lodges, Chapters and interested parties or groups with the intention of increasing membership, raising funds and also host regular, at least four times a year, meetings with friends, families and relations to raise awareness of the AFOSC.

FUNDRAISING

During the year we held a very successful Charity Clay Pigeon shoot which raised £2,888.00

FINANCIAL REVIEW

During the year under review, the Charity received income of £34,766.40 and recorded expenditure of £24,010.83.

In relation to the reserves policy, the Trustees aim to hold sufficient reserves to be able to finance the Charity’s commitments and administration expenses for a minimum period of twelve months. The Charity’s total reserves at 31[st] March 2025 were Restricted Funds £41,580.64. Unrestricted Funds £30,027.41

TRUSTEES AND ADMINISTRATION

Recruitment of trustees is through contacts with other organisations, recommendation and networking. Trustees are appointed after being interviewed by existing trustees and agreed by the Trustees based on the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the Charity.
