Trustees Report for Christian Science Society, Leeds For the year 2023-2024
The Church continues its mission TO PROMOTE THE TRUTHS OF THE BIBLE AS EXPLAINED THROUGH THE WRITINGS OF MARY BAKER EDDY.
With our change to a Seasonal Society, we have been able to continue our mission to promote these truths, whilst still operating under the purview of the Mother Church in Boston Massachusetts, USA. Again, our thanks go out to all involved in making this change happen
Our donations to Sunrise of Africa continue to provide evidence of fruitage around the world. The money we give provides several children per year an opportunity to attend the school, and provides access to books and uniforms for them. Their yearly Christmas letters are a welcome receipt.
We continue our yearly donation to the Joint Christian Science Reading Room, ensuring that fellow Christian Scientists and adherents around the UK, and elsewhere, have access to the latest publications and music for Church use.
Receipts
Total receipts for the year amounted to £59,869.49.
This unusually large amount was due to two donations from the closure of two nearby churches, from which we received a total of £50,000. This money has been put into the savings account pending a possible cause for it’s donation.
The 3 car parking spaces rented to NMT amounted to £2166.40. Rent for the spaces is due a review in the coming years to ensure it is in line with RPI increases. We received no charitable donation from the other local businesses for use of the carpark.
The £6,720 drawn from investment accounts was sufficient to cover the monthly donations and the majority of our utility bills.
With our reduced number of services held through the year, weekly collections are on par with the previous year.
Spending
As our number of services have been reduced, the need for a weekly cleaner was no longer necessary. As we were unable to provide a more regular income our current cleaner left us.
We will now employ on an adhoc basis for the seasonal period, and again for the off seasonal monthly services.

Independent examiners report for Christian Science Society, Leeds for year 2023-2024
As the total income for Christian Science Society, Leeds was above their normal threshold, it was decided to have a knowledgable person in finance matters to overlook their accounts as per Charity Commission instruction.
My findings are as stated and signed on the accounts.
