The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the charities governing documents and the Charities Act 2011 and Reporting by Charities.
Structure Governance and Mana ement The Charity was originally created in 1994 and is constituted under Trust Deed dated 31st March 1994. A Mayor is elected each year, for a term of one municipal year. The confirmation of the 'Mayor Elect, by the full Council usually takes place in January, to allow the incoming Mayor to prepare for inauguration in May. For the mayoral year the role is strictly non- political and representative of every section of the community; particularly focused on cultivating the positive image of the borough and on enhancing the well-being of its citizens. At the beginning ofeach mayoral year, it is customary for the Mayor to set up an appeal fund for one or more charities, typically ones which directly or indirectly, benefit Croydon. The Mayor has complete discretion over both the choice of charities and over how the funds raised should be disbursed. Ob"ectives and Activities The purpose of the Charity is to make donations to such charitable institutions at such a time and in such manner as the trustees in their absolute discretion think fit. Achievements and Performance During the financial year the Mayor supported the following charities: Croydon Neighbourhood Care Association (CNCA) Woodside Bereavement Service (WBS) Approved on behalf of the Trustees Cllr Richard Chatterjee Dated
Independent examiner's report to the trustees of "The Mayor of Croydon's Charity Fund" Trust I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 March 2026, which are set out on page one. Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 43(2) of the Charties Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: 1. Examine the accounts under sectDn 43 of the Charities 1993 Act; 2 To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 43(7)(b) of the 1993Act; and 3 To state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of independent examiner's report My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charty Commission. An examination includes a reviewof the accounting records kept by the charty and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view, and the report is limited to these matters set out in the statement below: Independent examiner's statement In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: (1) Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the following requirements have not been met: To keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993Act; and To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act and section 44(1)(b) of the 2005 Act and Regulatt)n 9 of the 2006 Regulations. (2) To which, in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
