Its afm is to promote diversity through Integration. thallenge limitstions and fdcilitate social
change.

2023-2024 has been a dynarnic and frutttul period for the ICL By August. our membershlp
remained strong at an Impres51ve 830+. maintslning a diverse and vlbrant cornmunity that
continues to flourish.
Our Journey ha5 been made possible by the unwavering 5UPPOrt of our remarkable funders,
includlng Isllngton Councll. the Department for Levelllng Up, Housing and Communities, city
Bridge Trust and the Mayor of London Their generous contributions have driven our ability to
plan and dellver engaglng and meaningful activlttes.
Regular Senrfces
Fo(Kl Is often called the universal language of love, and our kitchen has certainly been fluent in
itl We have contlnued to seNe three l<Jw cost lunches eath weeK offering a meal and an
opportunlty for members to ¢onr￿ct and converse. Despite the occasIt￿al change In chefs, our
' kltchen ha5 remained a vibrant hub. preparing festive feasts for occaslon5 5uth a5 the Lunar
New Year. Dragon Boat Fertival. Mfjd-Autumn Festlval and Wlnter 5015tlce.
In 2023n4 we introduced a touch of joy by launching quarterly birthday parties, complete with
surprlse glfts. These gatherings have become a highlight for senior member5, many of whom
may not regularly attend lunches but never mtss these speclal celebrations. The rapld
registrations for these events COnfirn￿ we are (x) the right track .
Table Tennls Continues to keep our Upper Hall buzzing with energy flve t5mes a week, wlth
addltional Saturday sessforns for weekday enthuslasts. We have seen members volunteer to

coach newer players, helping them sharpen thelr tsble tennls skllts. In May we elevated the
excitement with a tsble tennls competltton. giving members and the l¢Jcal comrnunlty a chan
to showcase thelr tslents. And Just when it seemed the fun could not get better, we plan to
convert the Upper Hall Into a badminton court on Saturdays. addin8 another13yer of diversity
to Dur activities.
Beyond these we also offer various health classes. induding the 24-Style Slrnplified Tal Chi, Tan
Chi Fan. Tai Chi Health, Aerobics. and Senior Musde Tralnlng.
Singlng Is another popular pastime among our members. We host karaoke sessions five tlmes
week and our . Good Voice - Singing Contest In September 2023 was a resounding 5uccesS,
drawing talent and audiences from across the UK. The evenvs success Is a teStsment to the
dedication of cur staff. volunteers and members who truly san8 thelr hearts OUL
To address the overflowing booktng of the halrcutting Serv1￿ we have now changed It to by
weekly ftom monthly servlce after securlng 3 second hairstylisL

If there Is one thlng our members love. It Is the ovemlght tour. It rernalns one of the most
sought- after experiences at the with spots fllllng up faster than you can say "Bon
Voyagel". This year we embarked on three unfor8ettable trips - to Northern Ireland, and
Scotland. and a sun drenthed cruise to Spain and Fran￿.
BNO and Welcome HK Programme Wel¢on* HONG KONG projert and Impart Grart
The BNO V15a programme has brought a wave of new residents from Hong Kong who now
make up 40% of our membership. We have warmly welcomed them wlth a varfety of Initiatives
designed to help them estsblish themselves In the UK We recognlse the need and the urgency
to support their Integration Into the UK society.
For those looking to settle in the UK English profldency Is a prlorlty to be mastered. We offer
them classes fiom be8lnner to adwanced levels, induding the prepardtlon dass for the Llfe In
the UKtest.
But our support extends beyond the practicalities of the UK life. We have curated a rfch array
of cultural and Social activities covering a rdnge of subjects - from educatlon. taxation. and
legal rights to home repair. knittin& aromatherapy, Chlnese Calli￿aphY. and painting. We have
even defved Into splritual enrlchment with se5s1ons on Western art appreclatlorj, UK social
medla. Brltlsh humour and etiquette the UK Parliament and Judldal soem. and themed walks
exploring heritage. leisure and more.
For those wfth busy weekday schedules the IC Café offers a sfice of local culture ￿th a varfety
of engagin& mostty Indoor actwtties that reflect local traditlons - Easter, Christmas. pumpkin
carvin& feastln& and partlcipatlng In Diwali. Though prlmarily organised by the younger
generation, Seniors are warmly encouraged to join In on certaln occasion5. These have
been a hit with the newcomers and long-tlme resldents alike.
Glven the tlme constraints and limited resources . our goals would be unattalnable wlthout the
dedicated cornrnitment of groups of volunteers. speakers. trustees, and planners who have
generously devoted thelr additional time. expertise and networks to building the foundatlon
that allows us to successfulfy execute our projects.

Thrivlng Beats sun￿Rg (fBS) Prohtt
Thanks to the generous grant from the Clty Brfdge TrusL we are now In the fourth year of our
5- year Thrlvlng Beats Survmng { TBS ) project almed at supportlng seniors over 55. In addition
to its currert aGtivities, TBS is enhancing its role in communlty engagement and outreach.
Thts year, we made several agency vblts• partlcularly durfng the Lunar New Year. to daycare
centre5. elderly homes and the homes of our senior members. These visits allowed us to share
some festhie jay. even for a few hours. and let our senlors know that they are cared for.
This year. we have also arranged user forums. telephone 8reeting skills and volunteer briefiT
sesslons. We recognbe the need for volunteer tralnlng and development whlth are critlcal to
dellverlng quallty to those In need.
Addltk)nally. our trustees have forn￿1 steerlng groups. investlng extra time to help guide our
dlrection and closely monitor both the output and performance of our initiatives.
In AugusL we launthed a new prDgramme called "Graceful Livin( focusing on the needs of
5enlors In thelr ftnal years. This program covers toplcs suth as drafting wllls. establishin8 lastlng
power of attorney. health and well-bein& options for senior livin& eArÈ and funeral servlce in
the U.L
Cornm￿1ty and Parinershlp
Communlty partlcipation and engagement are at the heart of the ICA'S misslon. We work
dosely with and support cornmunlty Inltlative* such as the St Gabrievs free breakfast and
Thursday lunch. We provide special rates and assistsnce to groups Ilke Irish Muslc. Cocalne
Anonyrnous and Alcoholirs Anonymous enabllng them to continue their vital work with le5S
flnandal burden.
In 2024, we collaborated with a prevlous hall hirer, the Cantonese Opera Singing Group, to
help continue wlth their Saturday practlce. The se551ons are now open to the public and have
becorne a favourite pastime for Cantonese opera-singing lovers particularly the seniors. This
year. we co-hosted two public perforniances- both the performers and the audience were
acting wholeheartedty In the evenL and a thlrd one Is comlng shortlv.
Contributions from Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the ICA. Wrthout thelr tlreless efforts. our major events
and celebrdtlons would be Imposslble. They play a crudal role In organtslng talks ovemlght
tours, day walks. dasses. table tennis session4 and varlous festive events, including the
Karaoke 51nging Contest, Christmas party. Lunar New Year cdebraUon5, and tsble tennls
competttlons.
Hereln the Board would like to extend our deepest thanks to all our volunteers and staff. Thelr
outstandln8 service has made thts year not Just successful but extraordlnary.
In the fvture. we will reserve more resources to buikl up the team so that our volunteers do
not Just 5uppo¢ but plaffj orEanise and exearte. A5 we look to expand the range of projects
we offer our members ft has become clear that we also need to grow our volunteer base to
eet the increaslng demands.

On the admlnlstratlon front, we are embraclng dO￿tal transformatlon. Mernbership records are
belng digitlsed, and automated registration is gaining popularity among our members. It wlll
enable us to streamline our servi￿. offering qulcker online registratlon and expandlng sales
to support our dalty operatlon&
Future Plan5
After 38 years of dedlcated sefvlce. the ICA Is taklng the opportunlty to re-evaluate our vision
and rnission. In July, we held a retreat attended by m05t of our trustee5 and staff. It served as
an excellent opportunlty ft)r a thorough health theck and dlagnosis of the ICA, utilisin8 an
analysEs to assess our strengths, weaknesse¥ opportunities and threats.
The board Is workin8 to define our future direction. focusing on sustalnable revenue, human
re50urce5. and rnore efficient SOPS ( Standard Operatin8 Procedures ).
Th15 year, we wlll have our boards re-elec. I hope they will contlnue to build our legacy wlth
visionary leadership ernbracing Innovatlve Ideas and adaptln8 to emergin8 trend5 to keep the
ICA relevant and reSpon￿Ve to evolvlng needs of our community. By Setting ambitious goals
and fostering a forward-thlnking culture. the new team would drlve the organisation to a new
helght and ensure Its contlnued success.

Financial revlew
The Flnanclal statements for the 2023n4 year are set out on page5 9 to 16.
Durlng the accounting year 2023124 grant funding played a pivotal role In ICA'S flnanclal heatth.
as It contrlbuted £130,625 (2023 £132.661) to total income.
For the year ended 31 March 2024. ICA reported a surplus of £48.111, an increase from the
prevlou5 yearfs 5urplu5 of £16.810. The trustees remain optimistk about the financlal posltlon
goin8 forward. With a renewed focus on artivities for the elderly and other members, and
ontinued efforts in fundtalsing applications. the charity w511 continue to make 51gnlflcant
strides In communlty bettement In the comlng year.
The Statement of Financial Activities hlghlighted an increase In Incomlng resources of £42,731
to t¢Jtsl income of £381,749 agalnst £339,018 for the 2022123 Flnancial year. As at 31 March
2024 the total restricted and unrestricted reserves of the charity amounted to £358.9Q5
compared to £310.794 as at 31 Marth 2023.

Reserves are the backl)one of any charitable operation. ensuring continuity even in challenglng

financlal times. ICA'S reserves policy mandates that reserves should cover a minimum of 3-6
months of running expendI￿re. Given the annual expenditure whith 15 in the region of
£333.638 In 2023f24, the total reseNes of £358,905 3t 31 March 2024 far exceed the mlnlmum
set by the trustees. This robust financial position assures the trustees of the charivs reslllence
28alnst any future slgnfflcant fundlnE reductlons.

The trustees manw fvnds held by ICA No Investment advisors have been appolnted.
Rlsk Management
The trustees conduct an annual review of the major rlsks to whlch the charlty Is exposed wlth a
particular focus thls year on the challen8es posed by Inflatlon. Intemal control systems have
been established to mltigate the rlsk5 the tharity faces, and these are periodically reviewed to
ensure their effettfveness. The slgnlficant flnanclal rlsks presented by Inflatlon have promyted
the development of a strategic plan This plan emphasises the diversification of funding sources
and actlvltles to ensure the charitys reslllence agalnst the eroding effetts of infiation on
purchasing power and operatlonal ce￿ts . The trustees revlew these rfsks annually. ensurlng
that the charlty remains prepared and proactive.
