The financial statements comply with the charity's constitution, applicable law and requirements of the Statement Recommended Practice (SORP 2005) "accounting and reporting by charities.. StstU8 and object8 The Church is a registered charity established to use its income for pursuit of its objects. The governance of Harton Street Parish of Celestial Church of Christ is vested in its trustees. The membership retains unto itself the right of exclusive self-government in all phases of its life and organisation. It recognises the needs for mutual counsel and cooperation which are common among Celestial Church of Christ churches. The Church will cooperate with and mutually work with other organisations, its members. and Celestial Church of Christ world-wide parishes to pursue its objects which are. a) The advancement of the Christian religion by propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ in accordan￿ with the tenets of Celestial Church of Christ through evangelism, education and training, induding printing. publishing. distributing and circulating books. journals and other materials which in the opinion of the trustees would enable achievement of this object. b) To provide for the relief of members of the Celestial Church of Christ who are in need. c) To advance the education of members of the Celestial Church of Christ and to provide social welfare and facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation wtth the aim of improving the conditions of life of such members. d) Harton Street Parish to be weWare centred charitable organisation which caters for its members and the community at large. e) The Church is not. and shall not be registered. under the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 Section 43 for the purpose or in order that, a same marriage ceremony could take place in the Church building. Risk Management Statement The Trustees are aware of the major risks to which the church is exposed and consider that, having regards to the scale and nature of its operations, the current system of controls is effective. taking into considerats'on the following. Health and safety policy is being reviewed in line with changes in regulations. A Child Protection policy has been adopted by the church. Adequate Insuran￿ cover is taken on building contents and public liability. Organisational structure, governance and management The church is govemed by a Board of Trustees. who are elected to serve the Church and run its affairs. Annually the Board reviews the range of skills it has available and uses its power of co-option to ensure that gaps are filled. These are normally members of the church who are volunteers.

Activities and achievements The Board of Trustees has considered the Charity Commission guidance on public interest benefit in the principal activities of the church. In the year under review, the Church encouraged and welcomed members of the community to live out their faith by providing a place of worship and fellowship. It offers various community events and activities to facilitate relief for persons in condition of need, hardship or distress by demonstrating the love and spirÉtual power of our Lord Jesus Christ through: ministerial outreach. relevant practical helps, communty education. musical concerts, youth mentoring, bible teaching, community day, worship and fellowship. Review of activitie8 The church celebrated its Annual Harvest during the year in August 2023 and the Children's Week. These programs attracted an average cumulative of 2,150 participants from various ethnic backgrounds in London, outside London within England and Nigeria. Charitable activities which were organised for the largely migrant community indudes: Periodical visit to Old People's homes e.g.. Lewisham Old People's Home and Club 99 in Deptford b} Counselling c) Visit to prison d) The church participates actively in the meetinglactivities of the Local Residents Association. e) Visit to homeless in the city of London Review of finances As shown in the financial report. the Charity's income from member donations in the fi'nancial year ended 31 December 2023 was £68,506 (2022: £85,807); total payments made by the Charity amounted to £71,492 {2022. £48.639) leaving net payments of £2,986 (2022: net receipts of £37.168). Total cash funds at the year ended 31 December 2023 was £60.990 (2022: £63,976). Celestial Church of Christ funds are held in interest-bearing funds with its bankers. A motor vehicle was purchased during the year at a cost of £16.582 as shown under asset and investment purchases. and this accounts for the usage of the operational surplus. Reserves Policy This will provide sufficient funds to Gover the church overhead and its objectives and to improve membership attendant. It is the policy of the church to retain unrestricted funds at a level that will not constrain its financial commitment. This will provide sufficient funds to cover the church overhead and its objectives. Plans for the future To Develop the Vicarage and have a counselling room for women abused by their partner and set up a computer room which facilitate leaming- to change the air condition system in the main church and instruments of the Choir.

In preparing those accounts the trustees are required to". Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent Prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the chanty will continue in operation The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. R88PaCtive Re8ponsibilitio8 of the Trustees and Examiner The charitys Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The charity's Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 {the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to- 1 . Examine atxounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act. 2. Follow ￿ procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145{5){b) of the 2011 Act: and 3. State whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of Independent Examiners, Report My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeking explanations from you as Trustees conceming any such matters.
