Activities

SIMT's main aim is the preservation and interpretation of the industrial heritage of Sheffield and its environs for the public benefit and educational purposes. The Trust manages two sites in Sheffield: Kelham Island Museum and Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. The former is the city's industrial museum and the latter is a restored water-powered works dating from the 18th Century.

The Operation Maintenance Expansion And Development Of Museums In Sheffield For The Purpose Of The Preservation Restoration Improvement Enhancement And Maintenance Of Features And Objects Of Historical And Industrial Interest In The Area Of Benefit. B. The Organisation Of Meetings Exhibitions Lectures Publications And Other Forms Of Education Relevant To The Historical And Industrial Development Of The Area Of Benefit. C. The Organisation Of Meetings Exhibitions Lectures Publications And Other Forms Of Education Relevant To The Public Understanding Of Science Engineering Technology And Design. Also To Preserve Restore Improve Enhance And Maintain Buildings Features And Objects Of Aesthetic Historical Architectural Constructional Industrial Or Scientific Interest Or Importance.
