Swallownest Pre School (Playgroup) Annual Report

2019-2020

Charity No 1042186

At the start of the year the Pre School was still experiencing financial difficulties, but slowly started to improve towards December due to the slight increase in the number of children taking up a Pre school place.

A member of staff of completed a Behavioural Support course and other staff members are continuing their ongoing studies for level 2 and 3 Early Years Education and other mandatory courses. This is to enable them to deliver a high standard of education and support, needed to assist children in their development.

The Pre School continues to offer placements to students and undergraduates.

In March 2020 the country saw the start of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Staff members had intensive and follow up training for Covid 19 restrictions and up dated courses as restrictions changed.

The Pre school remained open for Keyworker children and this continued throughout the Easter holidays but had to close for Covid 19 isolation and deep cleaning programmes for two, ten day periods.

Online learning was put in place for children not attending the Pre School so that their educational development, continued

During the pandemic parents and carers have been very supportive to all the restrictions put in place for the protection and safety of everyone concerned.

With the continuing support from parent/carers and local community we hope that our financial situation will continue to improve.

.For a second year in succession our financial difficulties have continued again due to reduced government funding, mandatory staffing ratios, which increase in our wages overhead and the increase in the minimum wage.

The school continues to work to a high standard and achieved an awarded with the Healthy Foundation status earlier this year.

The teaching staff continue to enrol on Early Years Education and mandatory courses, to maintain and develop their teaching skills. The continuous training enables the staff to improve the education and support needed to assist the children in their development.

The school continues to offer placements to students and undergraduates who are studying Early Years Education and Health and Social care.

With the positive help and support from parent/carers, staff and the local community we hope that there will be an improvement in our financial situation. If we don’t and we continue with the deficits the school may have to close.
