REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023 

The trustees of Exotic Pet Refuge present their annual report for the year ended 31 December 2023. 

STATUS 

Exotic Pet Refuge is a registered charitable trust number 1041774 and constituted by Deed of Trust. 

Exotic Pet Refuge derives its income from donations and gifts. 

## OBJECTIVES, REVIEW AND POST BALANCE SHEET DATE EVENTS 

The object of the Trust is to care and protect animals, reptiles and birds who have suffered from sickness, neglect or poor circumstances and also to offer guidance to the public in the care and welfare of such creatures. 

There was continued renovation and construction of animal houses and shelters and the charity is mindful that increased donations must be raised if this much needed programme of works is to be completed. 

## TRUSTEES AND MANAGEMENT COMMITEE 

The trust is administered by a management committee all of whom are Trustees and held office throughout the year ended 31 December 2023 comprising:

## ACCOUNTING POLICIES 

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) No. 2 and the supplementary guidelines for smaller charities on the basis of the accruals concept and summarise the transactions and net assets of the charity’s various funds. The principal accounting policies adopted are stated below. 

## Accounting for Income 

Income from donations and gifts are treated as income in the year in which they are recieved. 

## Expenditure 

All revenue expenditure is accounted for when incurred. 

## Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation 

Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less depreciation. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost less estimated residual value of each asset over its expected useful life as follows: 

Refuge Units - 0% Fixtures and Equipment - 10% reducing balance Motor Vans - 25% reducing balance
