Activities

The principal activity of the Charity is that of the conservation of trees and woodland areas in the United Kingdom. The aim to achieve this by widening the skills and knowledge base of those people and organisations connected with arboreal matters. Through training courses we can ensure that the existence and integrity of these areas are available to the public for years to come.

Objects: “the Charity’s Objects (“objects”) Are Specifically Restricted To The Following: (1) For The Public Benefit, The Creation, Protection, Conservation, Management And Enhancement Of Woodland And Timber Resources In The United Kingdom And The Promotion And Advancement Of Sustainable Wood Supply In The United Kingdom, In Particular But Not Exclusively By: - Helping People And Organisations From All Backgrounds To Conserve, Grow And Maintain Better Quality Trees And Woodland Areas Via The Provision Of Advice And Financial Support, Thereby Securing Environmental, Economic And Social Benefits From Their Endeavours; - Establishing And Supporting A Subsidiary Company To Operate A Trade Or Business (in Particular A Sawmill) Which Demonstrates The Value Of Those Parts Of The Timber Supply Chain Under Threat From Obsolescence; - Acting As A Resource Body For Connecting The Growers And Users Of High Quality Timber; - Raising The Awareness By The General Public Of The Value Of Craftsmanship In Wood; - Providing Support Including Making Grants And Awards To Other Charities, Voluntary Bodies, Individuals And Organisations Whose Work Furthers The Achievement Of This Object.(2) For The Public Benefit, The Promotion And Advancement Of Education Of The Public In General And Particularly Amongst Other Charities, Voluntary Bodies And Organisations With An Active Interest In Forestry On The Subjects Of The Value Of Well-Managed Woodlands And High Quality Timber And On The Threats Facing Woodland And Timber Resources In The United Kingdom, In Particular But Not Exclusively By: - The Provision Of Or The Facilitation Of Access To Skills And Training Within The Forestry And Timber Industries; - The Provision Of Information To The General Public On The Value Of And Threats Facing Well-Managed Woodlands And High Quality Timber; - Undertaking And Supporting Research Into Improving Tree Stock And Controlling Damage Caused By Pests, Diseases And A Changing Climate, And Disseminating The Useful Results Of Such Research; - Making Grants And Awards Of Money To Any Individual, Charity, Voluntary Body Or Other Organisation Whose Work Furthers The Achievement Of This Object. Nothing In The Articles Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The Charity For Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (scotland) Act 2005 And/or Section 2 Of The Charities Act (northern Ireland) 2008.
