Chairman’s trustee report for Whittington and Oswestry YFC

Well what an amazing year we have had.

We started off the year with a trip to Mile End driving range, where the members thoroughly enjoyed seeing who could hit a golf ball the furthest. New members evening soon came along and what a turnout we had with a lot of new faces who are now solid members of the club.

Then came November, and of course it started with a bang. We held our annual bonfire night which saw a great turnout of members, parents, past members and friends of the club. We also hosted the traffic light dance which looked to be a great night for everyone in attendance.

With Christmas around the corner and everyone getting in the Christmas spirit it was time for the second Choc’s Illuminated Tractor Run. lt was an amazing night and one | won’t forget. | cannot thank the committee of organisers and everybody who braved the cold to help us, and of course to everyone who donated.

With the New year off to a good start that could only mean one thing... Panto. It was amazing to see everyone work so hard and put all of their effort in, it truly was a pleasure. To come first in Shropshire was unreal and wasa true highlight for me. We then headed off to Hereford for the West mid round, this time we came second but still showed Brown Clee who had the magic!

We then put our efforts into getting ready for Pre-Rally day. With our tug of war teams looking in good form we were ready to put them to the test. Our men’s team came third which was amazing as the competition was tough. Despite the juniors and women’s teams not placing it was still great to see them putting 110% effort in.

It wasn’t just the tug of war we were there for, we entered teams into the fencing, welding and cooking and | couldn’t be happier with how everyone did.

Shropshire show was next and the float building began. Our Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights we now full with laughter, paint and a lot of head scratching. It was great to see members of all ages get stuck in and create a SpiderMan themed float. It was all worth it in the end as we came third.

During the year we entered many competitions, went to countless pub of the months, did an obscene amount of socialising but also raised a lot of money for charity. And for that | would like to thank all of the members and advisory for all their hard work and support throughout the year.

| would also like to thank my secretary Libby Morris and my treasurer Abi Lawrence for all their hard work during the year, | couldn’t of done it without you. | wish the new top table the best of luck.
